I've been watching a lot of reaction videos and tweets and I'm pleasantly surprised by how positive the reception's been so far. There have been a few negative comments (there were a lot on a DC subreddit, which I thought was weird ), but overall, it's been overwhelmingly positive. The like:dislike ratio is also very good, which I didn't expect. I was prepared to see a bombardment of dislikes on the trailer tbh. I'm so happy that the trailer's turned a lot of people around on the movie.

i hated first movie. i know it was 5 years ago, i was foolish and stupid and young and i am not young anymore but i see movies, books and other art things differently
now i know that joker 1 is well made movie with beautiful shots and music acting etc. but boring

Also I just saw there is ALREADY a breakdown on YouTube of all the Easter eggs in the trailer posted 5 hours ago   that means they put that whole video together in about 4 hours. Someone is hungry for views

It's been even more positive than I imagined, honestly. Everyone's been watching it smiling and loving that final shot. They all seem to be be receptive towards Gaga and responding particularly well to her scenes with Joaquin. Anyone who's negative were those who are convinced anything with Gaga in it was going to be trash and their fans obviously responded in kind. But the first movie had its haters too and look how well that did. For what its worth, the Dune Part Two trailer came out 3 months ago and it has over 19 million views and 248k likes and it's currently the biggest movie in the world right now and has made over $666 million in over a month now. So, Joker has got over 10 million and nearly 500k likes at nearly the 24 hour mark. And the movie is still nowhere near ready to be released yet. Take this is a GOOD sign.

The first trailer is obviously pulling in fans of the first movie by centering Joaquin. There will be a second trailer, just like the first Joker did, which will feature new clips. We only saw Steve Coogan as the only other cast member, so there has to be more variety of footage to come. Most people have praised the trailer for not giving too much away and giving us enough hype until the next one. Gaga is the joint lead, of course there will be more of her to come.
