Beyoncé's $3M tax trial postponed

The trial scheduled for May in Beyoncé's challenge to a $3 million tax deficiency has been delayed.

The singer filed a motion for continuance on April 2 and the IRS did not object. The parties must submit a status report or proposed stipulated decision by July 5.

In April 2023, the IRS determined that Beyoncé' failed to report royalty income and improperly claiming a variety of tax deductions in 2018 and 2019.

Along with accuracy-related penalties and interest, Beyoncé owes nearly $3 million, according to the IRS.

Beyonce argues that the IRS made an error in disallowing millions of dollars in deductions, including $868,766 related to a charitable contribution carryover reported in 2018.

On a serious note, if the IRS determined she owes 3M, I'm surprised she's going through with it and the potential PR mess rather than paying the 3M which she can make in one night.

but like, why do rich people not pay taxes?

if you have hundreds of millions of net worth, 3m seems like a small number

wouldn't it be better to pay it just so you look good to the public?
