Real Panda 7,599
What I liked most about Strange Darling is how the trailer made me believe how this movie was going to be and it ended up being somewhat different than how it actually was. I also commend the creative choice on how the movie was structured without being complicated. I liked the cinematography and the story/plot. Real Panda 7,599
First, I would like to say that I avoid religious movies whatever the genre, due to personal reasons. I've avoided this movie for a long time now thinking it would be a "Jesus vs The Devil" cliché but its (sort of) not about that at all. The First Omen in my opinion, is one of the best horror movies released in 2024. There isn't a dull moment in this film. As a movie-lover, I already predicted where the general plot or story would go but the way it is shot and how the story progresses kept me at the edge of my seat. There is one particular scene in this movie that standout as one of the best scenes in Horror this year. Its a must see! My 2024 Horror/Thriller Ranking: 1. The First Omen 2. Oddity 3. Speak No Evil 4. Longlegs 5. Strange Darling 6. Maxxxine 7. Blink Twice 8. Late Night With The Devil 9. Cuckoo 10. Abigail 11. The Watchers 12. Baghead 13. Imaginary 14. Tarot 15. Trap 16. The Strangers - Chapter 1 17. Lisa Frankenstein 18. The Beast Within
Real Panda 7,599
Night Swim is a movie about a "haunted swimming pool", yeah thats right. Its not so bad, its not so good either. Its too simple but still an okay movie to watch. This might have a lower budget than an average Netflix movie since a majority of it is filmed in 1 house. The lead actor tried his best portraying a sporty NFL or Basketball guy who got injured and cant play but he did not look or acted like that at all and at this rate, I'm starting to have less faith in movies from James Wan. Jase 13,043
Saw the trailer for Heretic (Hugh Grant, Sophie Thatcher, Chloe East) in the cinema today before Joker. It looks f'n amazing. 1
Fantina 3,270
I stayed at home today and decided to watch Salem's Lot since it came out on Max. Overall, I enjoyed it. I saw some people hating on it, though, saying it wasn't a good adaptation of the Stephen King novel. I haven't read it, so I can't really comment on that, but I thought it was a decent vampire movie. Until then, this is Elvira saying unpleasant dreams.
Real Panda 7,599
Salem's Lot is quite good for a TV movie or Streaming movie. I wish the "monster" had more screen time and I wish there wasnt a time jump and we were given a montage of how things went the way it did. There is a certain weapon that was a creative idea that I love. The movie is eerie, and the first half had some very good scenes regarding "transformation" and "confrontations". Flippy 11,557
I finally watched The Substance and OH MY GOD! The way I felt so uncomfortable! It’s amazing! I loved everything about it! Real Panda 7,599
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice Does this movie count as Horror? Its more of a comedy than horror. The Chucky franchise (post Bride of Chucky, minus Curse of Chucky) falls into that Horror-Comedy type of movie but the Chucky franchise still has some gore and violent murders to even out the comedy. This one has that Wednesday / Addams Family vibe but with a lot more comedy and even hints of 90s Batman in the beginning, granted they were all from Tim Burton. I liked the movie. There were many subplots like Willem Dafoe's character and the ghost kid and majority of the scenes are callbacks / nostalgia bait from the first film. The main antagonist's look is very Morticia Adams meets Frankenstein but even that character and her purpose felt like another subplot. Maybe this movie is just not for me, I see this has high critics and audience ratings. Edited October 9 by Real Panda
Real Panda 7,599
Sting is my favorite creature feature of the year, so far. The movie has a good use of sound and lights/shadows and some scenes that I find creative. The interwoven lives of the characters just make it feel so real and easy to connect with. There's honestly not enough new movies in the horror-monster genre and this one is a welcome surprise. I enjoyed this movie from start to finish, I'd recommend it to anyone. Levine 22,416
Just watched Cuckoo and I really liked it. I wish they explained better what those creatures are and from where they came, but beside that they did a good job.
