The two tiered justice system strikes again.

In case you missed it, he was ordered to pay $475m in a week and there were serious threats of the court seizing his properties like Mar A Lago and Trump Tower, and all hope looked grim until this morning, for 11:55th hour.

AND he was given another 10 days (wow imagine a landlord giving you 10 extra days and a 63% discount on rent bc you just “didn’t wanna pay for it.”

What a joke…

Meanwhile, working class people living paycheck to paycheck who can't pay the government in time for a debt or a charge they have get arreseted, without even consideration for an extension.

Bonkers

I hate Donald probably more than most sane people, but I'm not that mad about this.

I've had conversations with legal experts who believe that in his appeal, Trump will probably have his penalty greatly reduced, but it won't be thrown out and will still be massive.

$175 *MILLION* dollars is still a lot of money, 10 days it not that much time and if the full amount is upheld, he'll still have to come up with half a billion dollars.  At this point, the BOND was reduced, not the judgement.

For the courts to show that he's being extended every courtesy and every consideration available under the law cuts into his claim he's being treated like Nevalny or some other victim of political persecution.  I'd rather he was f*cked in every way possible, but at least there's some political benefit to giving him some temporary relief.

But it's temporary:  he's still F👏 *👏 C👏 K👏 E👏 D

In this case alone, a judgement for nearly half a billion dollars still stands.

Having to come up with 175 million dollars just for the privilege to appeal is not "nothing".

He's losing in court.

The justice system takes time, and he is successfully exploiting his power as a candidate, but it's all falling apart and the walls really are closing in.

If he loses in November, he's screwed.  It's happening.

Shesh the US is harsh if thats really true.

Here in Canada unpaid taxes or debts usually get u warnings first with some interest charges... eventually if u keep putting it off it could result in asset seizing...

It takes a long time and a lot of extensions for jail to be considered (if it ever does)

I feel like people thought the initial almost-$500 mil was reduced to $175 mil

He's got to pay both, queens. And he clearly doesn't have that kind of cash nor do I even believe he owns that much in assets :ladyhaha:

Missing your tax payments basically gets you something like 1% interest on the amount owed per month. If enough time goes by, then they'll start putting liens on your assets (property, car, valuables, whatever). If that doesn't cover what you owe, then you face jail time

So u do get extensions before jail

I think it's pretty difficult to actually face jail/prison time for not paying taxes unless you've committed fraud or something (like Trump has).

The government will just take your stuff until what you owe is paid :laughga:
