And it's the only place where they can have their right to self-determination, after being failed by many other governments (european and middle eastern) who were supposed to protect the Jewish minorities. So it's important to be critical of the CURRENT Israeli government and the CURRENT Prime Minister, but denying their right to exist is genocidal and helps Trump prove his point actually. The more y'all do that, and reject the two-state solution, the more you help republicans, Netanyahu, and the far right. See, I’m personally of the mindset that the establishment of the state of Israel (and the means by which it was done) was a huge mistake. But that bell can’t be unrung. Israel isn’t going to be dissolved and doing so atp would be a humanitarian nightmare, so I agree that a two state solution is the best we’ve got; but that solution also requires accountability for not just the actions of the *current* govt, but also the govt over the past 75 years that has illegitimately seized and occupied territory that was not afforded to them in 1948 (as well as the countless other crimes they have committed against the Palestinians). The average citizen in that era had bought into the heavy propaganda and supported the state's antisemitism (although the scale of the Holocaust was not public knowledge), the TF programme, the war effort, the racial purity stuff etc. But the solution wasn't erasing Germany from the map. Though I understand what you mean, I honestly cannot find it in me to be very charitable anymore tbh. They have the entirety of the western world governments by their side, and still, all they want is to kill and kill. I really don't believe that "safety" is the first thing on their minds. I mean, unless they equate safety with racial/religious purity, which is something they seemingly are looking for. We don't live in the 30s anymore, people have way more access to information that isn't propaganda, so I don't think there are any valid excuses at all to become ultra nationalistic terrorists as a whole population. Of course, someone could come and say "but, but what about Hamas!!" and to that, I would answer, Hamas is probably less of a concern for the Middle East's safety than IDF is. So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

I get what you mean, but I can only imagine the social, institutional, and political pressure/propaganda imposed on the average Israeli, especially after October 7th. Having lived in the US in the direct aftermath of 9/11, I will never forget how quickly the nationalistic fervor dialed up to a borderline psychotic level and I felt it *everywhere*. I understand your point about the internet, but, unfortunately, I think social media algorithms also limit people’s exposure to new information by opting to feed them content like the kind of stuff they might be predisposed to engage with. I’m not saying that they have no agency, but propaganda, social pressure, and mass hysteria are very real and probably at play here. I mean I do believe that safety is the driving factor. With Hamas & Hezbollah active people in Israel aren't unused to rockets in the sky etc & fights among civil society. Now, I very much take the view that Hamas' existence is a result of Israel's government's behaviour but obviously living under constant threat plays a major effect on the psyche. This obvs goes for Israeis & Palestinians. As for the comparison for the 30s, I'd argue that information access has actually made it easier for propaganda pushers on the extremes. The Nazi propaganda machine's success was possible because of the social climate the Nazis rose to power in, the control of publications etc came once they were established. It took nearly 10 years for the Nazis to build enough support as they had to build their own media networks to begin with etc, compare that with Trump who built it up in seconds within the 2016 primaries through social media. Same in the UK for Brexit - UKIP had existed since the 90s with zero success, but their growth came through social media's boom. StarstruckIllusion 53,563
Maybe if israel had it’s separation of church and state moment like the US did centuries ago, many israeli people would stop seeing monsters in shadows (so many already dont)
Bambino 24,321
I guess this clown is back at making controversial statements again I hope rational people aren't dumb enough to believe whatever he has to say. The Democrats clearly don't hate Israel, and the way Genocide Joe is dealing with Israel's atrocities against civilians in Gaza are a proof of this. Literally all world countries called for a ****ing ceasefire and the only country and only president who opposed a ceasefire is the US and Genocide Joe. That being said, both clown Trump and Genocide Joe have blood on their hands. And tbh none of this matters. I said it once in another thread and I'll say it again here: you can put Lady Gaga herself in the White House and the US stance towards Palestine and the Palestinians and Israel will never change. The US will always be Israel's sugar mammy and the US will always stand behind Israel no matter what.
