There will often end up being pressure to carry on without one to not "waste the moment". Making sure that there is an easy in the moment contraceptive available is simple common sense. 

Not only that but free condoms in school for teenagers reduces the burden on teen girls. It puts more emphasis on joint responsibility for contraception and leads to less girls having to make a solo emergency trip to the clinic for plan B if they weren't already on the pill/had an implant/had a coil etc.

They're handed out in Sex Education lessons, by sexual health educators. 

It's like not even an opinion. There's decades of scientific research behind this approach. It's literally the approach that underpins the global health community's HIV reduction efforts. 

I fail to understand how you can cite European countries to support your viewpoint, when literaly every European member here is telling you you're ignoring how sexual health in adolescents is handled here.

European countries that are part of the EU are legally mandated to follow WHO's guidelines on sex education. So I think you'll be shocked to find out that some countries start their sexuality education at age of 6. They've also stated that abstinence only education does not work and cited that the US mainly only teaches abstinence only while the EU teaches a holistic approach. Meaning they recognize that sex within teens will happen. Note that their way of preventing teen pregnancy is by acknowledging that it is a risk, not trying to "change reality" as with the US and what you are advocating for. 

 

I also find it interesting that you choose to cite a talk show host of a tv show known to be overly dramatic and embellished, considering you're invalidating anecdotal evidence of forum members.

I dont invalidate anecdote arguments, but when we have studies and statistics that says the opposite, im not gonna go with the anecdote.

And I agree with the WHO's guideline of sex education even younger of the age of 6, I have no issue with that, my only issue is handing out condoms.

This sounds heavily like the "schools have litter trays for cat kids" bs. 

Sunny is a pro-Life conservative who recently supported the Alabama ruling on IVF. Unless there's physical proof, I'm not going to believe her. 

But even if that were the case. UNFPA's study of nations providing condoms to teens found that it had 0 effect on teenage sexual activity rates. In rich western countries where things like the Pill are available very easily it didn't noticeably impact pregnancy rates but in poorer locations it did. The study also found it reduced STI transmission. 

There's literally no scientific reason to withhold access to preventative health measures.

Abstinence only education is a proven failure and a proven threat to young people. We know teens are having sex. There's literally no way to stop them. If there were we would have found it after 1000s of years of human civilisation. Lets at least make sure they are educated, safe and healthy.

I also dont support Abstinence education, I support education of sex scientifically, but its not the job of schools and governments to give my kids condoms. Leave the morality and incentives out of it, and educate my kids on the science. If you believe your kid will have sex regardless, you can hand them a condoms yourself, but leave my kids out of it.
