What is happening today? 

Tiktok getting possibly banned, nuclear threats from Putin, Trump hyping his cult by supporting cutting SSI (even though his boomer supporters are the ones who need it most right now).

It's all so crazy because normally any of these things would be considered shocking, but we are just so incredibly numb to the bullsh*t that its just a normal Tuesday for America.

Love that. Hope he keeps that energy and says it with his chest in debates/rallies. That'll lose him a big portion of the diet republicans and even some of his base, but it'll take him repeatedly saying it directly on major platforms for them to acknowledge it as a reality.

I am not a fan of Trump, but if you read the rest of the article, what he is specifically saying is cutting social security from illegal immigrants and fighting fraud. I can think of 4 people in my immediate family who collect social security somehow, despite not having any problems at all with their ability to work. They are simply lazy and have only held a total of 1-2 jobs in their adult life, and they are about 30 years old now.

Undocumented migrants aren't eligible to collect social security benefits, they pay taxes, and they contribute to the economy more than they are able to take. Also those 4 people aren't doing anything wrong. Good on them for finessing the system to work for them

This is going to sound hypocritical because I espouse a lot about empathetic and hate-free values…. but sometimes things ARE black and white. “Alt right” republicans (at least those who ACT on their warped ideals) are not worthy of your respect or empathy.

If you can simply accept the fact that they are VILLAINS in the narrative of life, you will have a much easier time reckoning with your contempt for them. That is something I’ve struggled with in the past: everyone is someone’s baby, and “hurt people hurt people.”

But as certain Republicans become more deranged and depraved, they move further away from any kind of salvation- moral, spiritual, religious or otherwise. Watch them with pity, but don’t break a sweat trying to save them. They would never save you.

Yup, I take no issues with tax payers getting the benefits of their taxes regardless of their citizenship status.

And also, I'd rather some people abuse the system than having the rules become too stringent which creates a risk that people who do need it are unable to get it.

I'd also like to remind everyone that unlike medicaid or other welfare programs, social security is not the government's money. It's our money that we pay into a collective retirement/disability fund to draw on when we need it.

Matter of fact, the government currently owes BILLIONS to our social security fund and they have to pay it back with interest.

Any politician that says cutting social security would be a good move is a scam artist and trying to steal from us.

We have got to stop with the myth that undocumented immigrants are collecting benefits. You need a social security number to collect any kind of benefits, and if you are an undocumented immigrant, you do not have a social security number. This is fueled by ignorance.
