No shade because I actually think Houdini is doing great as a hit. But knowing her label was in 'we want another FN smash album' mode, I'd say they are unhappy with the reception of her new music.

That would explain why still no announcement for DL3 release date and title

Because she’s sticking to the sound of FN but just not as good. It’s literally Katy Perry syndrome, same sound but decrease in quality with each proceeding album. 

She needed to let the FN sound cool off and show people another side or some versatility. She has access to the producers, the writers, and most importantly she has the vocal capacity to experiment. I thought the red hair was gonna come with a pop punk or pop rock sound, that would have really been a moment for her. Her feature on Prisoner with Miley was a sign she could do it.

it's not the sound it's the promo/management which is her damn father. she fired her whole team that helped promote FN and all of its singles. This era she had 2 performances in 6 months

Umm.. production and sound of Houdini and Training Season are not at all similar to FN though.

I honestly hope she doesn’t scrap the album or change it up too much. No idea why Houdini and Training Session underperformed but both are great tracks and prefer this production compared to FN which felt too tribute and was over-sampled.

I don’t think the average listener is wanting Dua to change up her sound, I think that’s mostly a gay boy thing. I think the singles aren’t doing as well as FN just because it isn’t Dua’s moment anymore. She has never been an instant hit maker or the biggest pop star.

I can't with her songs this era  even that Barbie song is amazing but Houdini and Training Season are so... Uneventful.
