So it's not out today?

It is. Listening now and I personally love it. Beautifully sung and produced. It’s classic 90s R&B which is what I love.

He’s whole thing is being real and getting deep. No one can be real if they’re act is keeping it real. I don’t buy any of that crap. It might have started from a genuine place. For example I can’t stand gagas interviews with him. It’s all too phony

Eh I mean he’s an interviewer, so it’s all performance. How “real” is anyone supposed to keep it? Can’t really fault him for doing his job + cultivating a vibe/approach

So boring. I really thought she was gonna switch it up, but it’s more of the same.

What’s everyone talking about? This album’s great, WAYYY better than I thought it was gonna be. Better than Positions, My Everything, Yours Truly, Sweetener, and up there with Thank U Next and Dangerous Woman imo.

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

The way the chorus slides in ever so slowly on the boy is mine- so smooth. Max Martin I see you!

I am so tired of this tiredass trap-influenced sound. Can we try something new? :coffee:

I finished my first listen through the entire album. Here are my thoughts -

So.. I was confused for the first 2 tracks. It had this vibe for me that I just couldn't quite understand and I couldn't enjoy a second of it because I was just.. puzzled

But then it hit me - this album in its entirety sounds like an album from the early 2000's a la Janet Jackson, Jojo, Michelle Branch, or even late 90's Mandy Moore. After that realization the album seemed to be more enjoyable. There was a sense of nostalgia, which is strange, but it made it interesting. The album isn't terrible, by any means, but I feel like I will be in the minority on this. This isn't typical Ari or Max Martin, and I feel like fans will have high expectations that will not be met.

I will give her props though - her intonation and enunciation has improved SO much that I could listen to the lyrics without having to read them, which I am embarrassed to admit is the first time I've experienced this during a first listen with her music.

Overall a decent album. It's way too short, though. And a lot of the songs sound pretty similar. I don't think it's going to do well with sales or awards, but I think the people who get it will enjoy it exactly for what it was meant to be. I'm curious to see how well the album will grow on me, if it will at all.

Standouts for me - The Boy is Mine, We Can't be Friends, and Yes, And?

The boy is mine and yes, and? are the only songs I liked 🥲, the lead single feels so out of place with the rest of the album is insane

The album itself is not bad. It's a grower. Love the production and her voice sounds lush and sophisticated. Better than Positions.

I wish she leaned in more into the conceptual side and did something more experimental, but then again I wouldn't really expect Ari to do anything much different than her general brand.

My main issue, if I were to be critical, is that the album cover and rollout has been inconsistent. The album cover(s?) is terrible. I think the album would hit different if the covers and visuals were more interesting and, again, leaned into the concept.

I think this album will age better than and all of the rest. It’s like a better version of Thank U Next (more chill instead of upbeat) with a little bit of Positions in there but sounds like could’ve been released in the 90’s and early 2000’s with that R&B vibe.

Not sure how to feel about the album, no where near as flawless as thank you next, I can see some songs fit on position. Poor single choices and the rollout was disappointing. Second half of the album is a snooze fest. :madge:
