Well, they're not gonna fund shelters or temporary housing in any meaningful way, so they're going to drive them into the woods. Plus, more people are going to take them up on their one-way bus ticket scheme which means my town is about to have even more problems 🙃

Instead of using the money and power it takes to do this, why don’t they just use it to build shelters or homes for them? This country is honestly so embarrassing.

The article says

“Counties, with approval from the state Department of Children and Families, would be able to designate areas for the homeless to camp for up to a year under the bill the Senate passed 27-12 late Tuesday. Anyone using those encampments would be prohibited from using alcohol or illegal drugs.”

”… easier to provide local services to the homeless if they’re in one location.”

This SOUNDS like a good thing but I don’t have much faith it will actually help those in need. You have to have proper resources for those combatting addiction and other ongoing resources for those just down on their luck and being homeless. Any of these sort of preventative programs would be considered “socialism” or “free money,” which are things conservatives generally dislike. If anything, the state would just use this as a way to show that “there aren’t any homeless people in Florida! Look at New York or California!” Sounds like they are sweeping the problem under the rug.

I moved to this godforsaken state to escape the conservative deep south (Louisiana). 

And even though the Orlando area where I'm living is more liberal than most of Florida, I truly cannot STAND Ron DeSantis or the old people retiring here.

True. The people here in Orlando help the homeless, or give them resources at least, but DeSantis needs to be out of office immediately

It sounds to me like they'll be funneling people with addiction into a concentrated area so that they can patrol it and arrest people easier. And I also have a hard time understanding how they'll even get to these designated areas to begin with. Especially considering they'll probably put them in a remote area without easy access.
