To be honest with you, (and this is the stark truth), I don't think anyone's political allegiance is important enough to even have an impact on the decision-making of world leaders on the precipice of a nuclear war.

Should we be getting involved and arming Ukraine with weapons? I'm not qualified to answer that. That's why I vote to put people in power to make these decisions for me.

I don't think it is about right vs left, I am just so conflicted politically. I can't vote for racist right wing authoritarians like Trump and yet I can't vote for left leaning globalists who seem happy to drag us into WWIII.

I guess what I was referring to in my original comment was that everyone on this site seem so confident about who and what to support politically, while seemingly oblivious to the fact that those individuals and things are looking increasingly likely to destroy humanity as we know it by escalating the war in Ukraine to nuclear holocaust.

I empathize with your struggle. I'm not an American, and right now I'm glad about that. Your country has displayed a lack of decent leadership since 1861. Barack Obama is about the only one I'd feel safe alone in a room with.

It's confusing because I know quite a lot of decent, intelligent, contentious Americans. I guess they typically just don't have Presidential ambitions.

I think you are confusing actual progressives like me with the old guard left of today who insist on pouring gasoline on areas of tension to the point that it only results in many more deaths and threats of nuclear war.

I don't see how anyone who calls themself progressive could vote for the current democratic party with confidence. The choices these days are either a racist and authoritarian right wing party that plans to restrict lgbtq and womens rights or old school leftists who are still stuck in 1990 and seem desperate to start WWIII

That's a big part of where I'm getting what I said about some of your opinions. Almost no one calling themselves progressive is voting for Biden with confidence outside of bots online. They're doing so because they can acknowledge that it's come down to either that or handing the country over to straight up fascism.

Nobody is saying that your average progressive is happy that a nuclear war could start, what I am saying is that people who call themselves progressive will vote for old school leftists that are globalist warmongers and genocide enablers just because they want to keep Trump out of office. I agree with this. My view is that Putin does not believe that Ukraine is an independent sovereign country that does not need anyone to meddle in their business. This is probably one of the reasons why he planted the separatists seeds in certain regions in Ukraine and Moldova in the first place.

Putin essentially should never ever meddle in Ukraine's business in the first place, is my saying. He's too kepo regarding Ukraine's affairs, telling them not to join NATO and the European Union and whatnot. WHO CARES? If Ukraine wants to join NATO and the European Union, let the country join. It has nothing to do with you. Fix your domestic problems first!

And there's one thing I don't understand. Why the fear of NATO? It has nothing to do with you. Trump and Putin's paranoia is stupid. If you look at Xi Jinping, you see he's fixing his domestic problems than meddling on NATO (although his and CCP's decision to not leave Taiwan alone is profoundly stupid, and One China Policy is no longer working, so if I'm President of PRC, I'd rather focus on the domestic economy and let Taiwan be an independent country...).

Do you have any understanding how spheres of influence work regarding superpowers? Acting like it would be no big deal to Russia if Ukraine joined NATO is pretty silly.  Starting wars and invading other countries is never justifiable from a moral standpoint but you are really oversimplifying things and ignoring decades of rivalry between Russia and NATO, strategic concerns and long term economic prospects. If geopolitics was as simplistic and black and white as Gaga Daily seems to think, we would all be living in the perfect utopia

When asked this, Putin responded with (and I'm paraphrasing):

"Say Russia joined forces with China and North Korea to expand our territory to include Mexico. Mexico agrees to join us, and now we have established Russian military bases all along the US-Mexican border. Would you feel threatened? If I told you that our alliance with Mexico had absolutely nothing to do with ambitions of invading the USA, would you believe me?"

When he said that, I understood why he's so hateful towards NATO.

When he looks at the map, he sees his country surrounded by NATO countries. The last two are Belarus and Ukraine. If they join NATO, he's totally surrounded. He is paranoid and believes NATO wants to invade Russia.

Also, whilst I understand why he's hateful, it doesn't mean I condone it or anything he's done. 

He is a vile psychopath who deserves to be imprisoned for life.

I just think it's important to understand the reasons why people do the things they do.
