Other people have already commented on this thread what the ARTL user said. 

We know gaga is a capitalist and operates/benefits from the system since day 1. The issue is that she isn't actually giving fans art/what they actually want. That's why people are upset.

Look at the fame perfume ad vs haus labs. That's what the difference has become and that's why there is so much backlash. 

Also a lot of what she does now feels like a slap in the face. Using the chromatica ball footage for nurtec knowing fans having been waiting for film since forever.

They may be considered forms of art but gaga has prioritized the commerce side than the actual art. Look at the campaign for her fame perfume back in 2012 vs anything for haus labs.

just churning out music would make her feel even more disingenuous lmao, philanthropic/pill-pushing/business woman gaga are more facets of her. if she's just putting out music for contractual obligations i don't want it LOL

I understand wanting music from a MUSICAL artist you love, but now she has people that love her in film as an actress. AND she even has people that love her makeup. at this point, I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt that she's doing things that either fill her spiritually or her pockets. I can only do the same.

A big part of this is that Gaga has created a fairly large and broad coalition of fans that all want something different from her. The OGs on this site definitely want more Pop-ish music from her, but she has Jazz fans, movie fans, make up fans, etc. Many on here act like she’s done nothing artistic since Chromatica in 2020, but she’s objectively done a lot in that time (even if 2023 was a more quiet year for her). It just might not be what you what from her at this instance.

 

I’m so curious to see how LG7 will be received here. Can’t wait for it personally! I have a feeling this is going to be a year where she releases stuff that I’m personally more excited about.

assuming? you, and no one here is in her head.. assuming isnt BAD but u gotta be aware that this might not be the case.

gaga as a person is not as performative as she was in 2012, so obviously the campaigns are gonna be different. Doesnt mean she is prioritizing money more than art, at most it means she prioritizes them 50/50. Wanting enough money to continue and build a brand or company is not a bad thing.

I think this discussion is really interesting, basically she's saying capitalism and art can exist together if done the right way... and some fans are saying "you're not doing it the right way (currently)"

I guess in her side, if she's doing the art she wants to do and making a lot of money then she's doing it the right way

she said herself a long time ago that everyone wants another Bad Romance from her, but that it takes time.  If we get a lackluster album, then sure some of us might need to pack it up - but i bet taking time away has had an incredible impact on the music she’s making

For all we know she's already doing that though. Maybe her contract says an album every 4 years or sooner and she waits until she absolutely has to release it because of her contract. I wouldn't call Taylor or Beyonce disingenuous and they pump out albums all the time. If the music is good and has impact, release sooner than later is not an issue.
