Doesnt mean she is prioritizing money more than art, at most it means she prioritizes them 50/50. Wanting enough money to continue and build a brand or company is not a bad thing.

I don't see how you can state that it's 50/50 when the general consensus on here is that the money side has outweighed the art side for a long time. There is nothing wrong with wanting/needing money to continue your lifestyle/work but let's not pretend that the past few years haven't been bombarded with cringey ads that are void of any artistic effort. (Nurtec, Tudor, Perfumes).

Like others said, if she filled in the gaps with actual content (Chromatica ball film, documentaries, ARTPOP tracks, acoustic album of her hits, etc) then the backlash to her partnerships that are clearly a money grab wouldn't be anywhere near as bad. Taylor is the best example of being a capitalistic queen while still delivering quality content on a regular basis for her fans. Not that gaga should be forced to release stuff just for the fans, but in that case, it is a far cry from art and capitalism being friends like she claims.

imo they arent cringey ads. the tudor ads are pretty artistic, so are the dom perigon ads, and the perfume ads

the nurtec ad wasnt as artistic, but it did include video of an artistic endeavor

i have no problem with the ads.

its clearly 50/50 but u can disagree

I don't know why this comes as a surprise to anybody when she's been doing this for years now. It's very clear her priorities are in making money off her brand and deals with other brands rather than making money from the content she provides to her fans.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: we're not her primary target anymore. And that's fine once you make your peace with it. Its much easier to go along for the ride when you've made peace within yourself regarding the fact that the audience she was playing to years ago is not the audience she's playing to now. She's moved on.

Why and how this is so surprising and dissapointing for some people?

Her estimated networth goes around +320 million dollars and she is an artist. OF COURSE she thinks art and capitalism can be friends, she verifies it every single morning when she wakes up in her mansion :ohwell:.

I just realised she gave us one solo pop album in the last 7/8 years

We are DRY

And this thread reminded me about Chromatica ball film and the mysteriously vanished Lady and Legend doc. I'm a person who actually enjoys Haus Labs, but gosh I'm bored lately and drifting away to other things

I don’t know about this. There’s so many OG fans that she plays to, I remember at the chromatica ball she recognised a girl wearing a lavender blonde wig from years ago who has been on stage with her many times.

I would say that she has more than 1 audience, she has her music fans, her acting fans and now she has her haus labs audience, she has a bigger target audience now but not completely a different one.

Also, I don’t think she’s silly enough to want to leave her old audience behind, many of us was there from the start and still are today. I’m sure she’s fully aware of that, we were and still are her bread and butter and if I was her I wouldn’t forget where she came from and what helped her along the way.

…the bey hive got a concert film, two surprise song drops, super bowl commercial, album surprise announcement AND a trailer for the visuals for texas hold’em film.

meanwhile us little migraines got a 69 “insiders” posting random emojis, 250+ pages of fan delulu, selfies, a business summit, a capitalism debate, 3782 haus labs ads, nurtec, hope for a concert film and a missing tony gaga documentary.

and they're still begging for act 1 visuals

mother, what must i do?

Creative marketing isn’t art lmao I think we need to reeeeally take a step back and ask ourselves, when we see an ad on tv are we like oh wow ART? :laughga: I get we wanna defend Gaga and her work, but let’s not move the goalposts here lol an ad having footage of an artistic endeavor that never came to be is not art :laughga: it’s basically b roll footage

Honestly I think she just has no clue how to play to her audiences these days. She was very capitalistic when she started (selling wig locks with deluxe albums???) and always has been (FarmVille?? Ads for O2?) but I think she had a better idea how to creatively appeal to her audiences. Now, I’d argue there’s about no creativity in her capital endeavors lmao sure there might be a visual, but she is not remotely rethinking or coming up with a new way to market herself or a product to consumers, especially longtime audiences. I think that’s actually the big issue for many . It’s cringe to them bc it’s quite mask-off, in your face capitalism whereas at other points in her career, fans engaging in her capitalism got to feel like they were engaging in something new and different and not done yet. Shes just lost the plot on brand positioning and audience appeal, I think. And honestly I chock that up to the team around her at any given point. No one feels the need to push the bar like she did when mama was hustling just to move a mfing t shirt. Like that lady made Polaroid cool to a burgeoning digital crowd bc she said it’s gotta be like this. That’s power and creativity a dedicated audience is proud to engage in. No one is proud to engage in so so quality merch, nurtec, and Oreos :laughga:

For all we know she's already doing that though. Maybe her contract says an album every 4 years or sooner and she waits until she absolutely has to release it because of her contract. I wouldn't call Taylor or Beyonce disingenuous and they pump out albums all the time. If the music is good and has impact, release sooner than later is not an issue.

Kinda off topic, but Bey don't pump out albuns all the time. Lemonade was released in 2016, Renassaince in 2022. Sure, we had The Gift in 2019 and Everything is Love in 2018, but you know what i mean. She's not releasing at the same rhytm as Taylor
