Noor Mukadam's Murder

Back in 2021 a murder that happened in my country that shook the nation's core. It became a cause of national and international riots and protests by people.

Not for the faint hearted so proceed with caution.

Spoiler

Noor Mukadam was the daughter of a a Pakistani Diplomat, Shaukat Mukadam. Her murderer is Zahir Zakeer Jaffar who is a the son of a wealthy businessman Zakir Jaffar and Asmat Adamjee (a very influential name).

According to reports released by authorities Zahir killed Noor because she refused his marriage proposal but it wasnt the murder which made this tale bone chilling. It were the last 46 hours of Noor's life during which she was tortured and eventually murdered.

Zahir called Noor to his home 46 hours before the murder. Noor arrived there around 10 PM.  According to reports Zahir called a taxi around 1;30 -2 AM and he along with a barefooted, quiet and distraught Noor got in the cab. However after 15 minutes he changed his mind and asked the cab to take them back home.

Noor's parents tried contacting her through the night till 10AM the next day when her mother finally received a voice message from her (the details of which were kept private). At 11AM Zahir called them back and told them that Noor wasnt with him.

Later that evening Zahir called his parents and told them he was in trouble to which his parents contacted Therapy Works (a company providing psychological care and where Zahir worked). Some people from their team came and Zahir attacked them however he was caught by police at the crime scene.

It is believed that from 11 AM- 7:30 PM Noor was tortured. She was beaten, tied, raped and punched repeatedly with a knuckleduster. During this time Noor jumped off the balcony and tried to escape only to be caught by Zahir's security and was taken back inside by him. Ots reported that she tried to escape a total of 6 times. Eventually she was killed and decapitated. Her autopsy report revealed that she died from strangling while also sustaining multiple stab wounds and was decapitated afterwards.

Later it was revealed through Zahir's mobile phone and computers that it wasnt his first time and that he would record and sell his 'films' for very high prices on the dark web. Noor's murder was also filmed by him and was livestreamed.

This incident sparked an outcry with nationwide demonstrations and riots and lead the prime minister taking a notice of it.

Zahir was sentenced to life imprisonment (25 years) and death sentence at the completion. His lawyers claimed mental instability which was dismissed by the courts. His lawyers appealed the case again in 2023. His security guards were also sentenced for 10 years. His parents were acquitted because of lack of evidence.

To this day some reports also claim that Zahir was later sent to the States by his parents because of the influence they had and the 'actual' Zahir was replaced by another person by his parents. This last part might seem like a conspiracy theory but given the influence and connections his family had it is highly likely.

This is the type of things I tell other men when they say they don't understand why women don't feel safe around them. May she rest in peace and may he rot in hell.

You know despite all this and a literal murder some people did complain about why did Noor go to his house late at night and that if she didnt she would have been alive.

Same people who say things like "why was she wearing that?", "why did she do her makeup like that?", "why did she talk to him like that?" etc. They look for a reason to blame women for the horrible acts of men.

I'm grading student work right now, but will take the time to read through in detail after that, but these things used to happen in my country too. I do believe justice is a lie we tell ourselves, sometimes.

So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

Tragic and terrifying. Men are so cruel and hateful. They (straight men of course) really just see women as objects to possess. I always think of that Margaret Atwood quote that goes something like "Men are afraid women will laugh at them. Women are afraid men will kill them."

This incident is very tragic. I still don’t get why people keep saying she shouldn’t have been there at 10pm.

Love it when you call me legs, in the morning buy me eggs 🥚

Daenerys

This reminds me of the terrible story of Fan Man-yee, also known as the Hello Kitty murder.
women will never be safe in this world and it’s absolutely devastating

Its because the country is quite conservative and this incident was twisted and turned into an ‘girls shouldnt be out late’ ‘girls shoulsnt go to men’s houses’ ‘girls shouldnt leave late at night’
