The UK has contracted 0.3% in the latest quarter after also contracting last quarter. Most economists consider 2 consecutive quarters (6 month period) the official definition of a recession.

The UK is the 2nd G7 Nation to enter Recession. Japan was the first.

Canada experts point out by most measures is under recession as well. Unemployment has risen a full 1% and GDP Per Capita has fallen for over a year. However extremely rapid population growth means total GDP and employment has still increased, artificially masking what would be a technical recession otherwise

When you have the incompetence of the Tories and the economic mismanagement during COVID and Liz Truss’ short run, this was inevitable. Thankfully, they’re going to get demolished at the next election.

Recessions are inevitable period. At least with the economic system we came up with even if well managed

But none of these things surprise me in making economy worse long term

Agreed, they are inevitable but like you say these morons make them even worse. The Tories think everything’s wonderful and were painting on the Sunday morning shows a picture of economic bliss and opportunity.

All you need to look at to know things are bad is the fact butter and baby milk are in securely locked cases now, such a mess.

Typical politicians tbh

Here in Canada we have one of the absolute worst housing crisis in the world, Canada dropped from #1 for standard of living globally (according to UN) to only top 20 in a span of less than 20 years... our productivity keeps falling relative to rest of developed world and life expectancy in this Country has now fallen 3 years in a row which is virtually unheard of in developed world

U think Trudeau acknowledges how much the country deteriorated? His response is always something cringe and out of touch like:

"were helping Canadians every step of the way and making investments that will make a stronger Canada tomorrow"

Im like b*tch u been PM for 9 years now. If your strategy was working by now we should have started to see some improvements. Sometimes ppl blame leaders too quickly when they just took office. But this guy been in charge nearly a decade. Just admit your strategies arent working :partysick:

Can't wait for labour to win and then everyone moan they haven't fixed 15 years of conservative mess in their 4 year term which will inevitably lead the old folks to vote Tory again :vegas:

Aint that what always happens? :rip:

But typically whoever is in power never fixes anything even if they are given a longer term...

In Canada the Liberals which are more left than previous conservatives been in charge for 9 years now... things have continue to get worse. They havent reversed any damage, just made it worse :rip:
