I don't disagree with you. Social media activism is usually pretty poor and riddled with misinformation.

But at the same time it is undeniably a successful vehicle of very impactful social media awareness about Palestine. It's also initiating a new conversation about branding, stateless corporations, and politics within companies. Thirdly, from what I'm seeing, it's become a mainstream entry-point into researching the boycotting of specifically Israeli/settlement products and companies.

So you're right. And this is part of the building of a network of people who do want to take action and are figuring out the best way to do it.

I doubt Lana is making a political statement, even if she is politically aware doesn't mean she can keep up with every company. I only heard about that boycott a few days ago, and I wouldn't have if I didn't spend so much time on Twitter recently. And I'm sure I only saw posts related to that because I liked some pro-Palestine tweets. I'd much prefer being less on that app and know less about these things.
