why don't pop girls do magazine photoshoots to promote their music but to sell their products they do everything?

Just curious, do people actually read magazines anymore? I like looking at the covers when checking out at the store but would never actually buy one to read since any gossip or info is instantly available on twitter.

the only young people that buy magazines from my work are stans like swifties buying magazines about their fave (and they're usually dressed head to toe in their faves merch too lol)

I do, but not for gossip. Just for images and general inspiration.
