I mean these are the same radio stations which still refuse to play music by The Chicks because they were right about the Iraq war. A number of the radio stations are also the ones who encouraged the domestic terrorists sending bomb threats to Chicks concerts in the 00s.

Like lets not act shocked that they refuse to acknowledge a black woman

I don’t want to challenge this concept, but in this particular case, I truly believe that most country music stations weren’t sent the song or instructed to play it at a corporate level.

Again, I would expect record companies to work this out in advance for maximum impact. If they failed to do this (maybe by choice?) then it’s not the radio stations fault for not having the song or instructions to play it on air.

radio stations don’t just connect their phone to iTunes and press play.

Do you remember when Gaga’s “Born This Way” song was released and radio stations played it once an hour, every hour that day? That was a coordinated effort by the record company in partnership with radio leadership. It wasn’t because some random person wanted to play it every hour.

Wonder how hard it would be for them to play Taylor swift

Well, they used to. But, I was shocked to hear, a while back, about this bar in Nashville that had a "legends of country music" mural, that had included Taylor, and they painted her out.

Seems petty to me. She may have "gone pop", but her records in country stand.

That's what I also thought. People are so quick to call racism and such, but neglect the facts that perhaps the radio station was not even sent the song to begin with.

I think it has more so to do with the pattern here. When Beyonce sang Daddy Lessons at the CMAs she got a lot of hate for it.

I mean yeah but you can't deny the racist undertone. The country fans came at her hard back in 2016 for the CMT performance, and it was very clearly thinly-veiled racism. Country fans have a problem with black artists in their genre.

I don’t really see an issue here, Beyoncé’s new songs have a country tinge but they are fundamentally pop songs. Nobody expected Joanne to be played on country radio because ultimately it was a pop album with country influences.
