Olivia Rodrigo is "rock-ish" inspired and her sound is critically and commercially successful. Born This Way and ASIB had rock inspiration at moments. I think there are a lot of ways to do it well and make it sound "pop". I LOVED the rock instrumentals introduced at the Chromatica VMA performance.
