Ariana being in Paris could also be a hint they also booked her ? Closing event will be more 'mainstream' and open to the transition to L.A. Olympics. 

Remember when Coldplay and Rihanna sang their new song together at London Olympics on 2012 closing event.

She did the "Lady" part at the opening ceremony. Now she's closing it as "Gaga" and kicking off the new era with it

Also a reminder Coldplay and Rihanna were booked for TWO events at Olympics 2012 : closing event and closing Paralympics event

So Gaga booked for more than one event would not be THAT new tbh
