Iran proxy launches attacks on U.S post in Jordan causing 33 casualties.

"Three US Army soldiers were killed and more than 30 service members were injured in a drone attack overnight on a small US outpost in Jordan.

It’s unclear why air defenses failed to intercept the drone, which appears to be the first known attack on Tower 22 since attacks on US and coalition forces began on October 17. US forces at the outpost are there as part of an advise-and-assist mission with Jordan."

This is by far the most dangerous escalation in the "cold war" between Iran and the U.S. A response from the U.S. is very likely.

This will also further damage Biden's re-election chances, since a main republican talking point is that he's perceived as a weak leader abroad and other countries "don't fear him".

Wait, "casualty" and "injury" are interchangeable terms?

Will it though? Trump is the one that stomped out any chance at diplomacy with Iran. I think that's a more egregious failure than Biden not being scary enough tbh.

Especially when Trump takes a stance of being isolationist.

Biden detractors will say "he's weak, I bet there won't be a response to this attack"

*Response comes*

Biden detractors: "omg what a war monger"

Yeah, casualties means deaths + injuries.

You're right, but republicans always contradict themselves anyways and are the biggest hypocrites.

They'll just use whatever there is in the media cycle against him.

The deathtool in Gaza is said to have reached 26.000.. :flop: If 26.000 lives - taken in this theater of the US-Iran proxy war- are less important and 'less escalatory' than some attack on US military outposts, you need to check out your moral compass.

Yeah, unfortunately the alt-right lacks the ability to think logically and look outside of their narrow viewpoint.

Well, good thing he's not going for the Republican vote then :poot:

Independents aren't going to care that Biden didn't bring fire and brimstone down on an Iranian proxy when his opponent is Trump and has the baggage he does tbh

Which part of "between Iran and U.S" did you miss?

I'm aware of Iran's involvement in Ukraine's war (providing thousands of shaheed drones) where tens of thousands of Ukrainians died.

I'm aware of Iran's involvement in Gaza's war (funding H group).

But I'm talking about direct military confrontation between U.S and Iran and their proxies.

I mean I'm worried about the escalatory ladder. U.S will respond, and then Iran will respond etc..

This is a problem Trump started (by destroying the deal) and sadly he'll try to spin it as a failure of Biden.

He's already on it :air:

What's not clicking, babe?

Israel's war on Gaza is part of the larger Iran-US conflict, because the US supports Israel while Iran supports Hamas.

Sure, but if you're gonna use that standard, I find it interesting that you omitted the case of Ukraine too, where Iran provides Russia with probably more aid than they send to H group, thousands of advanced Shaheed drones.

Anyway, let's not derail this conversation, you get my point. I'm talking about direct confrontation between U.S army and Iran (and their proxies).

Notwhitstanding the fact the war in Gaza proved unspeakabily more deadly and destructive than the war in Ukraine (which in turn makes it that one cannot claim to have the moral higher ground supporting the American-backed side in the conflict :spin:), Iran is contributing to Russia's capabilities way less than to those of Hamas, so while Hamas can be called an Iranian proxy due to the amount of support they receive from Teheran, Russia cannot, because it's to large extend self-sufficient and is more internationally powerful than Iran (if anything Russia could be called Chinese proxy because China is towering over Russia in terms of economic power).

The topic is the so-called cold war between US and Iran. The so-called cold war between US and Iran includes the 2 sides, as well as their proxies and the entities they arm and have leverage over. The confruntation between the Israeli army and Iran-backed Hamas is part of the larger US-Iran war. You cannot get to change the definitions so various situations fit or don't fit your criteria.

Let's not play mental gymnastics, it's too early for the olympics :billie:

I quoted you before replying and you said "US supports Israel while Iran supports Hamas." Using that same standard, Iran does militarily support Russia, and U.S also supports Ukraine.

But anyway, let's stay on topic please. I know you're always itching for a long back and forth with me, but I think our time is better spent doing smth else.

It's not mental gymnastics just bc you don't like the reality. Also, to give support =/= to be a proxy. Russia is not an Iranian proxy because Iran is not assymetrically more powerful than Russia or dictacting its decisions. A proxy is a smaller entity by default, Russia might be a Chinese proxy but not Iranian.

It appears US forces need to get better at identifying drones.
