Any concert I’ve been too the venue is packed by 8 or at the latest 8:30, and that’s everything from arenas to amphitheaters to football stadiums OT: i really don’t see why she in particular has to be so late all the time. Countless other artists regularly start on time with shows that are just as spectacular and technical and more I've seen Madonna 2 times on this tour, the place is packed around 9:30pm, in the US 10pm...people are late but I don't think 2h is that late...and she always has a DJ before her.. .I remember waiting for Gaga, she didn't have anyone the last two tours before her, it felt like forever until she came out. Levine 22,398
It's pretty sad that we are so used that rich and privileged people treat us like we are less than them. And this is our fault, because we let them. No, it's not normal. No, not every artist is always that late otherwise this wasn't a sort of a meme when it comes to her. And no, we shouldn't be "fine" because we are in her presence. If I'm always late on my job they fire my ass in a matter of days. And I'm pretty sure this is the case of 99% of people who commented here in her favor. 6
Nathaniel Arven 1,597
it's pure sexism because nobody would sue pete doherty. Spoiler lol . i'm more encline to think that you know that this can happen. Also this may be the last tour for madge like that so I would be grateful to see her. kinda regret that i never saw her. GypsyVida 5,905
Madonna is ALWAYS late. For my DC show in December she showed up at 10:40. Nothing new for her. Idk what they expected. currently streaming Disease
Yaaaas Gaga 813
If I turned up to my job 2 hours late I would face disciplinery action, particularly if my job involved offering a direct service to paying customers. Madonna's fans need to not enable this behaviour and just stop attending her shows. She thinks way too highly of herself and needs a big slice of humble pie.

Why not just apologize and try to do better? If the people were collectively all angry about this her ticket sales would suffer. All of these years of her barely ever going on stage before 10pm and she still sells and people still want to see her despite that because once she comes on stage, she gives them their moneys worth. They’re willing to overlook it because she’s Madonna and they’re entertained. You can find that unfair all you want, but that’s life. If you were the “Madonna” of your field of work, you’d be able to operate the same way. I’ve overlooked things that aren’t truly awful from my favs all the time whether that be tardiness, relationships, questionable opinions etc. That’s just part of being a fan. Because we are adults and can control what we spend our money on, if I didn’t like it I just wouldn’t buy a ticket.

I l literally don't care if an artist starts 2 hours late. An artist isn't a steaming service. Sometimes personal issues conflict with your schedule. I truly don't care if you're scheduled for 830. Sometimes you show up 2 hours late, because life is ****ing unpredictable. I don't even like Madonna, and here I am, defending her, because you can't ****ing sue someone because they didn't meet your goddamn privileged expectations. First of all, get the **** over yourself. You bought tickets to an event, and it wasn't exactly to your expectations. You're no better than a yelp reviewer crying that your experience at the McDonald's drive-thru wasn't the same experience as a Michelin star rated restaurant. Privileged expectations because you expect someone not to be consistently 2+ hours late? You’re the one that sounds privileged thinking everybody can afford to not work the next day. Not everyone is in a position to just take work off the next day. Madonna doesn’t just sometimes show up late, she ALWAYS shows up late. It’s beyond “personal issues getting in the way.” Maybe she should be the one to get over her ego and start at a somewhat decent time. Was my show late? Yes. Was it annoying? Yes. Did I know she was going to be late? Yes. Is it the end of the world? No. But that doesn’t mean everybody has to be okay with it and pretend like it’s fine when clearly she’s the issue.

Serious question, but do you see entertainers as service workers? Because she’s not employed by you, or any company really in this sense. She’s technically, like all entertainers, an independent contractor. So she isn’t beholden to disciplinary action like we would be. The semi equivalent to that would be the city fining her for going past curfew. I’m having trouble seeing people making these comparisons because they don’t make sense and I find them a bit bizarre. If you don’t like it don’t buy her ticket. That could be her disciplinary action from you personally. The service/customer analogy is not a good way of thinking of entertainers at all really. It’s how they get taken advantage of when they aren’t someone to the level of Madonna or Gaga. Edited January 19 by HIM820

I’m sorry but in a world where people are getting raped and murdered daily, I can’t see how a pop star coming late on stage is a valid reason to open a court case. Can’t imagine how these people are dealing with real life problems, if they have any. Feel free to disagree.
