They’ll latch onto anything. I just don't understand how the USA doesn't have basic TV laws that prevent misinformation or political leanings and stuff, it's maddening. We had a wannabe fox news channel called GBnews start recently in the UK and every other week they were breaking a TV law or something and now you hear nothing about them and no one cares

What’s “maddening” is people openly calling for governments to legislate away “political leanings” they disagree with instead of, ya know, saying “I disagree,” walking away, changing the channel, closing their browser, or the literally infinite other ways of sharing a physical or virtual space with people who have different ideas and opinions than you. Even more maddening is the lack the foresight to see how easily those very same laws could be used to censor them if/when the next election swings in an unfavorable way. Typically why NOT wanting to live in a dictatorship or totalitarian state used to be the less maddening idea. 2

It's not about a dictatorship I live in the UK not N Korea 🙄 It's about impartiality laws so the news can deliver pure facts without any political bias towards either side. Journalism generally is finding out factual information and delivering it to the public, I wouldn't call places like Fox news journalism, just speculation, entertainment, scandal and lies, and that channel has a huge influence on a lot of the public. Yes the public could find a similar thing online if they wanted but eliminating it from TV with impartiality laws would help to at least keep TV news factual and non biased and keep the culture wars online. andreas85 392
I don't think the government could afford Taylor Swift. I'm quite sure there are many cheaper agents they can hire. Edited January 13, 2024 by andreas85
