When I was younger, I remember the anti-vax community being pretty small and niche, and that it was largely accepted that those people were just crazy. Let's go back to those times :selena:

The push to make children get vaccinated with a new and shortly studied vaccine for a low risk disease for vast majority of healthy children negatively impacted people’s perceptions of vaccines and fueled a distrust against well-studied vaccines that are very necessary to prevent serious extremely life-threatening and disabling diseases that impact children. These parents are wrong, but the push to make children get a vaccine that caused more hospitalizations from myocarditis than  covid itself (https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2021/sep/10/boys-more-at-risk-from-pfizer-jab-side-effect-than-covid-suggests-study) and helped big pharma net $90 billion made people distrustful especially after the Opioid epidemic fueled by big pharmaceutical. New vaccines for new diseases are ALWAYS experimental in the beginning (one of my family members was paralyzed by an early version of the swine flu vaccine that caused a condition called Guillain-Barre Syndrome along with hundreds of other children who experienced GBS. Thankfully, these vaccines improved and the net benefit outweighs the risk. But the lack of transparency around the very expiremental nature of the vaccine and the huge ad push (government + for profit big pharmaceutical ads) to get children vaccinated while myocarditis risk was downplayed is now having negative ramifications for all vaccines and causing a distrust of safe and well-tested vaccines.

Why is everything you say contrary to the topic at hand, vaccines save lives. End of story. If it wasn’t for vaccine’s we would have still been shutdown

COVID disinformation really f*cked us. I grew up in a heavily anti-vax household (which thankfully I had sane members in my family that would called my parents out) and everything anti-vax now is just re-hashed disinformation that's been used in the past.

I work in a children's dental office and I also keep seeing a growing number of parents being skeptical about the use of X-rays and fluoride. Even though both have been extensively used and studied for decades, soms people trust their Facebook articles more than their healthcare provider:saladga:

Slightly off topic and a confession here I used to personally be anti-vax, the last vaccines I received were when I was a child until COVID happened and my entire opinion changed extensively, especially when my grandparents became at risk of dying from just being around me. Even now I don’t like going near people when I have so much as a cold.

But in hindsight those vaccines when I was a child easily probably prevented a lot and saved me as a kid. Especially when I was a kid and there was a MASSIVE amount of kids dying from measles in the UK at the time.
