Controversiaga 9,252
More lead characters being casually gay. anytime a lead character is gay it’s ABOUT them being gay. otherwise, they’re a supporting role. how about some queer superheros or something idk Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga” 15

Like David in Schitt's Creek his orientation is such a big part of his character. Patrick's too.

Guest
LGBTQ+ characters being defined by more than their sexuality or gender, that's all. So instead of "LGBTQ+ character" we can begin to see "character x, is * insert development literally any other character gets here* and belongs to the LGBTQ+ community" Edited December 24, 2023 by Guest

It's like his orientation is more of an afterthought. 1

Joe Locke's playing Wiccan, who's arguably Marvel's most popular gay character, and Agatha herself is rumored to have/have had a wife. Reality 71,865
I think the difficult thing about the whole representation debate in movies and TV shows is that you'll never please anyone. Have a character whose queer identity is a large part of their character development? Well, you're "pandering" and "going woke". Have a character who has other things going for them, but just so happens to be queer? Well, you're not going too far enough and it's just tokenism. I want to see all sorts of representation. I want to see characters whose storyline and character development revolve around them being queer, but I also want to see characters who just exist in the world and just so happen to be queer too. There's not one way to be queer, so there's not one way to represent the queer community. Just more LGBTQ+ characters in general would be great. TimotheeChalamet 4,649
I'm fine with things as they are for everything I watch* always features at least one LGBTQ+ character, even when I'm not expecting it *produced in the last 2-3 years
SHALLOW 15,729
Gay guys not wearing makeup or being attractive. Also them having a personality besides being gay would be great too

He was revealed to be bisexual in S1, but it was a single line hinting at his sexuality and they never did anything with it. His storyline never revolved around being romantically involved with a guy (even though I think you could argue that there's some queer subtext between him and Mobius). There's been criticism regarding the fact that the show "didn't go far enough" and just used that one line to pander the queer people without actually having to do the work to "actually represent" Loki in any queer capacity. It happens a lot in movies too, especially blockbusters. They'll have a kiss between a queer couple or something, but it'll be small enough to be edited out in countries where queerness isn't as accepted.
