The first song is Death and the last song is Womb. It's kind of set in a liminal space between one life and the next (loosely). Death, an afterlife where she reflects on her life, then rebirth. Every song has a transition in between so it can be listened to as one whole thing Edited December 17, 2023 by Helxig I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. 1 1 1

holy scheisse 21,603
i think she was preparing to sing so she took a deep breath to be able to sing
Magic Mike 2,654
this theory reminds me when i listened to this part of thank u next, where I felt Ari was kinda singing between the genre of breaths you do when you talk as you cry (video with timestamp below)... nowadays I'm not so sure. because you can edit in the studio as you're producing, and you can take out the breathing, when you actually put breathing in it, it is predictable that someone can think the breathing is intentional and means something
CatelynnMarie 4,239
You’re not stupid. Intentional or just her prepping to sing, this is actually a really cool perspective/ concept for the album. 1

dimitristhe 1,543
Yes, you are right. It’s no coincidence that an album called BORN this way starts with a breathe and ends with heartbeats and a song about death. Also, don’t forget the album starts with “I’m” and ends with “you”. Oh, her mind!!! When we're not together tell me everything's gonna be alright 2 1 1
kukukoko 51
The album starts with an inhale and ends with a pulsating heartbeat. Edited December 17, 2023 by kukukoko

Werewoof 2,374
Even if it’s not on purpose that’s an amazing way to interpret it. Bringing me back to my English literature days Give me the weird and out there analyses of art. They keep the experience alive 1
