At least they were somewhat spread out, she’s doing them everyday and some only in her website, it’s gonna get hard to regulate

I feel bad for Nicki... telling your fans to stream and buy your music is not fraudulent at all. But let's give people who have questionable amounts of radio play a pass though.

If i read that correctly the contest involves buying all 4 copies

Stuff like that is manipulative to charts and i cant blame billboard here

The only thing id criticize billboard here is not being more consistent. Other shady stunts to chart higher in the past by others went ignored and should have also been called out

The album is gonna freefall after this week. Let it go Nicki. Now she's saying she's at 300K and Billboard's gonna make 100K disappear:lmao:

It is literally impossible that she was going to sell 300k, all the reports estimate sales of 200k at most, she is lying.

but if the sales are sales is it not fraudulent to manipulate the charts because there are fans that actually decide to waste their money on multiple copies? :air: they're still sales

I guess if u could use the argument that buying something multiple times (even if the cover is different, some signed etc) essentially makes it a duplicate (kind of like how streams do not count after a 3rd consecutive listen) and get filtered out

U cannot delete sales data in terms of gross revenue she made because as you said money was made but u definitely can choose not to count duplicates. Charts do filter out certain things, its not a new concept

The only complicated thing here though is how do u quantify how many physical sales were duplicates? U cant really, theyd have to try to estimate and quite likely be way off

The problem isn’t the variants. Billboard is not arguing that.

The problem is her offering 100 select fans the chance to come see her in the studio if they prove they bought 8 versions of the album (4 physical, 4 digital). Billboard considers this bribery.

Variants were never the problem, it’s the baiting fans into mass buying by promising exclusive perks that are not available to all fans.

Taylor for example did offer pre-sale access for album purchases, but there was no exclusion. If you bought you got access period end of.

With Nicki, you could buy those 8 versions and still not be one of the 100 selected.
