Boston Mayor hosts party excluding white employees

 the clownery is gonna backfire on us. How does she think that excluding white employees from parties will help solve racism. I swear these people have got to be psyops planted to help republicans or something

"Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s publicly hosted holiday party excluding white elected officials is questionable optics and judgment for someone who is supposed to be uniting the city.

As the Herald first reported, Wu hosted the party for an “electeds of color” group only on Wednesday night at the city-owned Parkman House despite criticism from some councilors who got disinvited.

Wu’s director of City Council relations, Denise DosSantos, mistakenly sent an invite to the party to all city councilors, seven of whom are white.

Fifteen minutes later she sent another email apologizing for sending the invite to everyone.

“I did send that to everyone by accident, and I apologize if my email may have offended or came across as so. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused,” she wrote.

Wu spokesman Ricardo Patrón told the Herald the city was not paying for the party, though it was using city resources — the Parkman House."

It's a party that the elected officials of color in the city have hosted for years according to other articles. She accidentally sent it to people she wasn't supposed to send it to, it's really not that deep.

From my understanding, it's not a "no white people" situation at all. It's a party celebrating elected officials of color, but the woman's plus-one is white. There isn't a bouncer ready to turn away anyone without melanin. The wording of the party in publications is so uncharitable and honestly feels like it's in bad faith. How many parties like this throughout the decades have been white-only events by default because there weren't any non-white elected officials? Are we doing away with all events focusing on black and brown achievements? Is the Women in Stem conference disgusting for not including men? Until equality is achieved, there is a need for these kinds of events. The white Americans cosplaying as oppressed to complain about this need to be serious.

Idk, I don't see the problem with it

The purpose isn't to exclude white officials, just to celebrate officials of racial minorities. It's weird to omit white officials from being invited but minority races have their spaces (like black churches, for example). Whether or not that kind of thing has a place in the corporate or political world is a debate to be had but yeah

The way this seems to be twisted is akin to people saying something like gay pride is meant to exclude straights when...I mean, that just happens but that's not the purpose 

And before anyone tries to clown, no a "whites only" party would not be equivalent or ok

This is why politics is so irritating.

 

Ppl intentionally omit details and/or use wording that is intentionally misleading to spur their narrative. And im gonna go out and say i dont think this is a problem specific to one part of the political spectrum cuz tbh it feels like all sides do it

 

Everytime i hear analysts economic numbers argue or ppl debating politics i just nit pick at what facts each side is cherry picking to prove their point. No one can ever be bluntly open about everything and say things in the full picture as they are
