Controversiaga 9,254
Didn’t we just have a big strike that prevented advertising and promo for movies ? Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”
Magic Mike 2,657
people are forever children lazy asses who believe watching movies at home is the same as going and be obnoxious, talk, use their cellphones or dance and do ritual **** in a film theatre luckly the ones who like **** like marvel, eras tour and disney stuff are the most obnoxious, so I have the best time at being quiet in a chair and enjoying with other anonymous people the theatrical releases in the big screen, the screen that the director intended to release their work of art Edited December 11, 2023 by Magic Mike
StrawberryBlond 14,015
I made a similar thread recently that specifically focused on how many movies flopped in the summer, a time that is normally the most lucrative for cinemas. So much is to blame, the strike is probably the most obvious, as promo was severely limited, so it was like the only people going to see movies were major fans but the wider public didn't know or care. Throw in one too many sequels tiring people with the same old thing, sky high prices and directors trying to appeal to what they think the public want (but failing miserably) and it's no surprise that so many movies are flopping. I think plot is also spoilered way too much in this day and age and everyone's talking about it online to the point where it's like we've heard the entire plot of the biggest movies before we see them (that was the way it was for me with Barbie, though I still saw it). And naturally, if any movie can be streamed at home eventually, a lot of people can't be bothered and will only consider epic movies worth going to watch on the big screen but everything else is for home viewing. As for the movies recently, I predict more flopping for the most part. I don't think Aquaman 2 will flop as hard as people think - they seem to forget the original made $1.1 billion and while this sequel won't be as big, it'll still make a sizeable amount. I'm really not sure which way Wonka will go. I think Warner Bros misread the market on this one. I don't know one person who was demanding the origins story of Willy Wonka (and we already kinda got that with the 2005 remake that went into his childhood) and therefore, it won't be the blockbuster they're hoping for.
