HMH is bland to me. There is no Gaganess to it, nor the grandiose & replayable factor that a theme song would have, probably my 2nd most skipped Gaga songs after Eh Eh :bradley:  :franminervini:

When I heard it on TCB, it was a bit better, and I assure myself that was the pyrotechnics and lightings that does it  :icant:

HMH piano's version :ally:

Honestly the short rehearsal clip that she posted on instagram was so much better than the actual performance

This is a good question. I kind of am leaning towards Hold My Hand because I think it’s probably more meaningful and has more artistic merit because it’s connected to a movie.

Meanwhile The Cure never made any sense. It was such a basic pop song that anybody could do, it almost felt like Gaga was trying to prove she could make pop music still during the Joanne era but then it flopped? And then there’s the possibility that it could have been from A Star Is Born, which makes a lot of sense, but that was never confirmed. So it’s just this random basic pop song that is good but not that good. Versus HMH, which is an over the top power ballad.

I should clarify I like both songs but they’re probably lower on my list of Gaga songs

HMH is just… meh melodically and production wise. Atleast for Gaga standards. I think as a stripped piano track it’s better and actually stands a fair chance, like the rehearsal video. The Cure is atleast catchy, like someone said it’s also kinda basic but serves its purpose as a chill pop song. Wish the bridge was more interesting but other than that it’s solid.

If his words mean anything, DJWS said it wasn’t meant for ASIB. But it was written while they were creating ASIB songs, so I think it’s less “yeah this was scrapped from the movie” and more “yeah we made this beat for a potential Ally song but it became something else”

I was meh about The Cure until I saw her sing it live. I am still meh about Hold My Hand. I haven’t heard it live but my vote goes to The Cure.

The Cure is kinda nice I suppose, but I watch some JWT from time to time and I chuckle a bit when the song comes up. Gaga is a ferocious creature and I just can't have her as a piece of singing candy floss.

As for HMH i don't rate it as one of her best songs, but I do like it, and I really liked the Oscars performance. I know it wasn't to everyone's taste, but it worked for me.

The Cure definitely. It’s a cute and catchy song that boosted Gaga’s streaming numbers and it actually got a proper awards show performance  :huntyga:

The cure is very basic but i'd rather listen to it than HMH. I prefer HMH live

I don’t know. The cure doesn’t feel like Authentic Gaga.  Hold my hand is too repetitive and lyrically messy- which sucks because vocally it’s one of her best songs.

I don’t dislike The Cure but I’ll never understand the amount of hate that Hold My Hand gets.
