And I think they're quite self aware about it, they want to experience being a hot mess from being a little to tipsy at a party just once, while Just Dance is playing in the background. They long for being a regular human, that doesn't have to conduct themselves publically like a celebrity with PR training to keep up their public image and social standings. 

And... that's kinda sad.

This can’t be true!  Nobody dances anymore? Everyone is consciously waiting to film strangers at clubs just to embarrass them? The sounds dystopian.

Aaah the nostalgia. I was 20 when Gaga released BR.

You can't even fathom the moment that "OoooooOOOOOooooOoo" hit after a brief silence in the darkness. The walls were shaking because of the synchronized belting of the people in the club. Indeed clubs are weird nowadays. It's all about insta stories & tik tok rather than having fun.

 

However, those of you who haven't experienced it at least smile please, cause if you did you would be 35+ now. Time flies.

Girl what clubs are you going to lol I’ve never ever had this experience. Clubs in my hometown are always packed and everybody is dancing their asses off. Straight clubs on the other hand though

Gen Z is, unfortunately, deathly afraid of being perceived as “cringe,” and so I wouldn’t be surprised if, even if this weren’t the *reality*, this didn’t at least represent a very real paranoia.

That’s so sad. I have so many amazing memories from dancing and having fun on a dance floor until my legs gave out. Everyone having fun and no one caring about being “cringe”. To me, caring that much about what other people think is “cringe”.

Honey, you literally answered your own question.

Which is also why Gen Z gaybies initially experience way MORE whiplash than Millenial gaybies. Gay clubs haven't changed, this is about mainstream straight clubs. 

The phenomenon is also way stronger in countries with lax data privacy laws (like the USA). If you upload a messy drunk person on there, you go viral. If you upload somebody being messy in Europe, you're getting a fine and have to pay for an expensive lawsuit that you're gonna lose.

I remember being in a club and going to the toilet when Just Dance intro started playing, and I just ran back jumping through the crowd with the biggest smile on my face just to dance to it with my friends who all knew how much I loved Gaga

That's true. But I think there are more reasons behind it: the attitude towards dancing has changed. There were no massive immersive PC games in the 1990s, some guys voluntarily attended dancing classes to impress potential girlfriends. These days, they use their free time for PC games and smartphones. Dancing was considered as an appreciated skill by youth. It is no more. These days, they hang out at the bar/point of serving of alcoholic beverages  and sith there with their male friends and are passive. Very passive. It has become much rarer, that guys these days ask a girl to go dancing together on the floor.
