Tbh the opening track Genesis was IT for me! I knew she was going to be big. Her voice... Same. Back then it was big in Europe but not in the U.S., and I was like "ugh I swear if the stupid am*ricans do not make her famous I'll lose it" thankfully I was wrong So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted. 4th Time Around 4,525
The first Dua Lipa song that I ever heard was fittingly called Genesis and a friend of mine who liked her debut album played it for me. After that I sometimes bumped some of her tracks but I would not call myself a fan until the rollout for Future Nostalgia. The evolution and growth, the hit power, the perfectly executed rollout, the fact that she did not let COVID stop her elaborate promo makes it one of the most iconic album cycles I can remember in a long time. Dua was the ultimate dark horse of 2020, Gaga's return to pop was being hyped up as the main event but partially because of her own willingness to just give up on Chromatica it ended up being Dua and The Weeknd who had the defining pop albums of 2020, the two of them will always be associated with the madness of lockdown for me. Hey, I'm king of the world, you ought to hear my song, you come on measure me, I'm twenty inches long

I remember hearing a single - I don't remember which one it was, but I know it was after the album was released that I heard it - so I checked out the album and Genesis was spectacular. I don't hear people talking about that, but it hooked me in. Unfortunately its also my favorite song on the album so the rest of the songs weren't up there compared to it but they are all mostly amazing anyway, so... And then Physical really got me hooked. Don't Start Now was okay. It's a good song but I don't get why it smashed the way it did when Physical was right there.
