I don’t think it’s fair to compare the success to Taylor swifts reissue to Adele’s 2015 album. Adele sold that many with only just 2 formats as well as a release on iTunes. Taylor Swift had streaming plus 10 different variants of an album, I agree the demand is high but at the same time it’s not hard to achieve that with many different formats and a dedicated fan base who they make panic buy, I had seen that they make certain things seem more limited when they aren’t.

Good for her that’s she able to move that many units, I’m just stating facts, there are many artists who are able to move solid numbers with only 2-3 formats. It’s not just Taylor swift who does this, I think it’s getting pretty ridiculous of how many versions of the same album get released. Also narrative must be Taylor swifts/her fans favourite word to use when getting called out/critiqued for anything lol.

And not cuz Taylor has 4(or 5 not sure) variants but cuz Adele had her ORIGINAL album, meanwhile Taylor’s having a re-recording of an old album.

It is a narrative though.

One ultimately rooted in attacking a woman for daring to be more successful than other women. Particularly funny is the idea that one woman does it the right way while the other does not.

Vinyl & CD variants have always been a thing since music became a physical sellable product.

For example: Bridge Over Troubled Water - one of the biggest songs of the 70s and one of the most famous singles ever released. In the year it came out, the album had a mono LP/Stereo LP/ 3 different 8 tracks, a casette & a club edition LP.

Don't see anyone out there critcising people talking about how many records Simon & Garfunkel sold?

Agreed with this, I have friends who bought vinyls on her US store 'cause they were limited but then they were released everywhere so they just wasted money on shipping :ladyhaha:

It's just marketing, it's not that serious. And it is certainly not embarrassing compared to what people did in 2010s to get them sales such as discounting the new album into 99cents during the first week sales  :bradley:

What is it every time some even slight talks bad about Taylor Swift it’s a feminism thing ? Is that the only defence ? I never downplayed her success or saying she did it in the wrong way I simply said of how selling numerous variants equals big numbers , that’s a fact ? I’m so tired of Taylor swift fans using weaponised feminism or making it an issue when she’s slight critiqued.

"I agree the demand is high."
"a dedicated fan base."

Exactly.

The record was still broken. Regardless of what you say, the world is progressing so the norms will always change. Of course, the objective of putting out an album is to sell. What are you blabbering about? :ladyhaha: Taylor's team knows how to do business. After all she is an artist. An artist gotta sell?

"And I still love you even if I can't see you anymore."
