Cavadour 2,008
Loved it. Like with Lovecraft TV and movie adaptations, the non-litteral approach is better. I think Flanagan did a great job again adapting the story. The result is deliciously Poe-esque. And the huge nudge to Spoiler the Sackler family and Purdue Pharma is perfect. The cast is great. I binged the whole thing last w.e. Late to the party but I got a diamond heart
berlinforme 5,158
I watched the whole show from Thursday to Sunday and it was very good. Imo not Mike Flanagan's strongest work (Haunting of Hill House remains unbothered) but it gets much better after the first 2-3 episodes and is in general more cohesive than Haunting of Bly Manor. He's a stellar director but I think, like a lot of shows on Netflix, Fall of the House of Usher suffers from being a great idea that's being dumbed down for a mass audience. Haunting of Hill House was very smart and subtle with its themes and twists whereas here all nods are very literal, you can see most twists coming and the moral messages are pretty much in your face. Also, Netflix's need to shove as much LGBTQ+ representation into a show as possible takes me out a bit. Spoiler The whole sex party thing with gay, bi and non-binary people being sex obsessed "freaks" and the moral connotation is not really the kind of representation that's necessary imo. Not in combination with at least 3+ other LGBTQ+ characters. It wasn't even shocking, more like a slightly raunchier scene from the OG Gossip Girl show. Zedd 5,752
I'm actually watching the finale episode! This series is so good, I thought I'll stop in half of the first episode, as it wasn't quite interesting, but the same evening I already was on the third episode! The ARTPOP Zedd

Auther 22,080
Is this good enough to warrant resubbing to Netflix for?
DpHitch1992 1,142
Love Flanagan! The Haunting of Hill House will always be hard to top, but I'm liking this more than Bly and the midnight club. It's giving me what I wanted from AHS. Camp but a Cohesive story.

I felt the "representation" was very forced and cringe. It's also a weird watch because most everyone in the family is a narcissist and unlikeable. So there's no one really to root for, especially because they spoil their fates in the first like 5 min of the show. And the writing is questionable a lot of the time. How many times are they gonna drop the f-bomb unnecessarily? It seemed lazy sometimes. Episode two is literally "Hey, we're cool and edgy Gen Z, see? Watch us!" Overall it's been ok but nothing will ever top Haunting of Hill House imo. https://discord.gg/hausofdelulu
RebeldeFaith 4,555
I loved it!!! Binged all of it the day it came out, but now I'm thinking of watching all of it again but slower cause I feel like I missed many details. That club scene will always be in the back of my mind when I see fire sprinklers from now on. Something something idk
Mr Ricky 8,960
I've watched this with a Dolby Atmos setup. Some of these out-of-nowhere scares, gave me a heart attack Crossfit
djBuffoon 11,997
Fabulous, ghastly, and overall sensational horror filmmaking. Hill House remains Flanagan's masterpiece, but Midnight Mass and House of Usher are neck-and-neck for 2nd place.
