“The female-fueled concert film opened to an estimated $95 million to $97 million from 3,850 theaters, thanks to the superstar’s powerful fandom. AMC Theatres, which is distributing the movie, is breaking from the norm and not giving a weekend estimate that is usually provided by Hollywood studios on Sunday morning. Instead, it will wait until Monday morning to declare an official gross”

“Swift’s movie has much to celebrate in already becoming the top-grossing concert film of all time in North America in its first weekend, as well as possibly beating Joker ($96.2 million) to serve up the biggest October opening of all time, not adjusted for inflation.”

It is 3M dollars off from the most conservative estimates. I guess this is technically a flop now :fan:

Only Gaga can do 100M :fan:

Spoiler

100M from a Vegas residency contract that got her chained to Vegas forever that is yup yup :selena:

She toppled Justin Bieber as #1 best selling concert movie ever with this. Mind you, that Bieber movie was from 2011. It needed a Taylor to break 12 years record :applause:

I’m still just irritated that the cost for tickets for this were more than twice of a normal movie. I don’t think anyone is surprised by this amount though.

It was more irritating to see some fans defendig it by saying "She has no control over the ticket prices!!!" while the ticket prices in question are literally $19.89 and $13.13 :fail:

Yeah it hurt paying 13€ for a ticket and you couldn't even use the cinema's member card to get a discount on it

Do we think international dates will gross more than North America? 👀

Maybe, a lot of fans who didn't able to get tickets for the concerts might go see this movie instead.

Once again, want to remind everyone this is DOMESTIC box office, not WORLDWIDE box office. This is within prediction range. The $100 million+ opening weekend was a WORLDWIDE forecast and it hit that. It’s worldwide total is a $128 million OW.

@Tinnitus15 If you could kindly change the title to domestic box office or US box office my OCD would be sauuuuur happy

See this is so fascinating to me I wanna know where y’all live that you’re not paying around $20 to see a movie with taxes included. That’s about what I pay every time and even more for a PLF showing.

I'm in Greensboro, NC. I just checked for a matinee. The Eras movie was like $24 before taxes. I checked Saw and it was like $13. Same type of theater.

In regular ticket prices, the Eras Tour movie did $50 million aka. less than Straight Outta Compton or Clash of the Titans lol. It would've done even less had it played on Mondays-Wednesdays.

It did even worse WW. I saw right through Taylor because the reason she put $20 on those tickets was to inflate her weekend box office. This movie didn't need premium screens but it needed them to break $100 million in its first weekend and I'm glad it backfired.

Absolutely NOT accurate.

Deadline was predicting a $130+ million DOMESTIC opening and so did the Swifties. This rewrite-history-because-the-movie-underperformed is not cute.

The Swifties claimed this would end up grossing $1 billion and would open bigger than Barbie. Safe to say it didn't lol.

I live in latin america and movie tickets here cost like $6-8 tope for regular tickets and $25 for vip. However, for the eras tour the cost was about $17 regular, so they really did charge extra just for her
