River 85,433
Jennifer McBride, convicted of knowingly receiving the stolen French bulldogs after robbers nearly killed the pop star's dog walker, sued for the reward plus $1.5 million, citing promise of "no questions asked" Lady Gaga emerged victorious Monday in the multimillion-dollar lawsuit filed by the woman who returned the pop star’s stolen French bulldogs in 2021 and later sued for the $500,000 reward — plus $1.5 million in further damages — even though she was convicted of knowingly receiving the stolen pets after dognappers nearly killed the singer’s dog walker. A Los Angeles judge ruled that Jennifer McBride, 53, failed to remedy her lawsuit with an updated complaint filed two weeks after the court dismissed her original complaint in July on the grounds that McBride appeared to be trying to “benefit from her admitted wrongdoing.” Judge Holly J. Fujie issued her final decision during a morning hearing lasting less than 10 minutes. She ruled that McBride had “unclean hands” when she tried to collect the $500,000 reward and was later prosecuted. Despite McBride’s argument that the reward was offered with a promise of “no questions asked,” Judge Fujie ruled that “a party to a contract who acts wrongfully in entering or performing the contract is not entitled to thereafter benefit from their wrongdoing by seeking to enforce the contract.” Unlike in her decision in July, the judge said McBride won’t be allowed to try again with another revised complaint because “there exists no reasonable possibility that the defect can be cured by amendment.” https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/lady-gaga-dognapping-reward-1234836411/ Je ne parle pas français but I can padam if you like 5 25

Bonkers 25,074
If i were the judge I would have ruled in Gaga's favor, but I ALSO would have ruled the woman get the electric chair. I'm not sure if that's how judging works, but it should be. Onlygaga 295
The fact that they actually let this woman try to sue Gaga is crazy, lmao. How in the world is that real?? So glad Gaga ultimately won, though.
Controversiaga 5,170
Rumor has it everything came down to a sing-off in court. Both ladies were ordered to sing a rendition of Shake It Off by Taylor Swift before the judge. Fr: Good. No way a criminal deserves to be rewarded for their crime. Edited October 3 by Controversiaga Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga” 1
StrawberryBlond 12,806
“a party to a contract who acts wrongfully in entering or performing the contract is not entitled to thereafter benefit from their wrongdoing by seeking to enforce the contract.” It's so good to hear a judge make this clear. I've seen so many chancers try to act like they're the good guy when they were actually doing illegal stuff and acting entitled to do it. Saying something like "no questions asked" is said in the hopes that the person looking to claim the reward is going to play ball and isn't just looking to gain money in bad faith. 6 hours ago, Economy said: Good. Reminds me of the story in brazil where a guy complained to cops that a robber stole his stolen goods The worst one I saw was a thief who broke into a family's garage while they were on holiday without realising that the door was faulty and it slammed shut, locking him in with no way to get back out and he survived the entire time they were away by drinking from a tank of water and a bag of dog food. When the family got back and found him in the garage, he tried to sue them for not making it clear that the door was faulty by putting a notice outside. I don't think he won, thank goodness. Some people are extraordinary. 2

I've learnt in America you can literally sue for anything, and often it's the free lawyers that try endlessly to win because they are probs no win no fee types so they need to get paid name um
