The Renaissance World Tour concert film will reportedly be released this December

It's going to underperform compared to Taylor Eras Tour Film BUT with tour movies if they can make even like 50 million in profit then its a HUGE win because they are relatively cheap to film and easy money.

I really don’t think anything less than Eras should be called an “underperformance” because Taylor really is in her own league and riding the crest of a full-on global phenomenon right now. I think Renaissance film will do very well for a concert film and it won’t match Eras but nothing could right now.

I mean, I'm not really shocked. I suspect it's streaming (let's face it, Gaga is still a top artist, but not enough to release in AMC like Tay....I'm honestly shocked Bey is going that route tbh), and anything to do with streaming during the strike would be a bad look.

I think it's just going to be quietly released on a streaming platform like Ariana and Billie did a while back.

I also don’t think it’s aiming to. Like Taylor swift does Barbie movie type marketing by which I mean immersive marketing that highly encourages groups gathering and chattering about this that and the other T Swift. Beyoncé isn’t doing that marketing bc it involves a level of fan interaction she simply doesn’t want to do. So I think that bearing all that in mind they probably aren’t even expecting it to do eras numbers. It’s veeeeery clear that while Taylor swift is consistently aiming for biggest revenues, Beyoncé is a little more concerned with legacy building and critical acclaim. It’s giving she wants an Oscar tbh

 

no shade to either woman just analyzing the objectives. Taylor doesn’t seem to care much about critics, just fans. Beyoncé seems to now be very eager to get industry cred as the preeminent legacy artist probably(?) bc she wants to start slowing down a bit and with 3 kids and being 42 I get it
