Juanjo 2,297
As a Mexican, I’m not surprised at its placement on the list, and it’s so sad and infuriating. Mexico is really colorist, racist and classist. Hopefully millennials and the younger generations can change that.
Cavadour 2,752
Born, raised (partly italian on my mother side) and living in Switzerland I'm not surprised of this result. Everyday I can witness dumb anger and rejection to everything foreign living or working in our country. Some explanations (I'm not trying to find excuses to racist attitudes here, cause they're despicable no matter what), some clues to understand the situation. Switzerland is a small country (Nova Scotia size) in the middle of european Alps. Yet, were not in the EU. Thanks to the rich background and banking history (discuss about dark origins of this wealth is not the point here). We kept WW2 outside our borders (again, the way this was accomplished is part of another much heated subject). All in all. Swiss people are very keen on privacy and jealously protective of their small piece of land. Even between us, counties, communes, regions, villages, towns, there's a lot of rejection and self-centered attitude. Foreigner are welcome, as soon they are wealthy and drop their millions on our soil or when they're ok to take the harder and sh*ttier jobs, swiss workers don't want to do. People around us, especially from french and italian border zone, are happy to work here. The low income they can get - compared to homegrown workers - is way over what they can get at home. Many patrons, as everywere in the world, are making profits with undeclared workforce. This border 'invasion' which, scale consideration apart, looks like what happens in southern US borders and other less known parts of the world, is also raising more local anger. Nothing new under the sun. No surprise, all swiss people leave internal feuds down and rub shoulders when something from outside is 'menacing'. I'm happy to live here because you can make a quite comfy living, even on the lowest level of social ladder, if you're interest is keeping a low profile. As musician and local entertainer, I had the chance to share the stage with artists coming from many horizons. Everyone is utterly and positively surprised when they get what is unanimously consider as the worldwide highest fee a small and quite unknown artist can cash. So yes, there's a strong protective spirit in Switzerland. The way it works has both good and bad results. Life quality in our country is great. No doubt about it. But the unibrow primal racist attitude is just some steps away sadly. Even though I'm in touch with people, issued from generations of immigrants, recent and past, who are proudly honorable human beings, some among them happen to be the worst racist 'swiss' people you might find around... So let's weigh the pros and cons of this hairy matter first and foremost. Late to the party but I got a diamond heart

But theres just no way argentina is less racist I think the reason Argentina 🇦🇷 is not on this list specifically, is because they were successful in wiping out most of their black and indigenous populations! So there literally isn’t enough people of color (percentage wise) still living there right now in large enough numbers to discriminate against! 🤷🏾♂️ Egypt. I find it so funny when white Latinos complain about racism like aren’t your ancestors literally the same people who invented all of this? (I’m not talking about you so please don’t take offence) I'm not complaining, I'm elaborating. VERY different. And yes, they left when we achieved independence, an independence that was built by mixed people. Our first president was afro as a matter of fact. Argentina still has a lot of their native population intact, despite the erradication efforts made by Roca in the 1870s (which were also aided by some aboriginal groups mind you), unlike let's say Uruguay were barely any remain. You're very missinformed my friend. Maybe study a country's history before speaking about it like you have the facts ? Just an idea My ancestors came here escaping Mussolini and Franco, so definetely not colonisers, but in fact extremely poor people that had to exile themselves. So yes, I WILL TAKE OFFENSE on your ignorant generalization, thank you very much.

Over 40% of our population is mixed. And let's not even get into immigration in big cities like Buenos Aires. And as you said a quick, but more thourough, search of your source, says this : "[...]most Argentines are descendants of indigenous peoples or have some indigenous ancestry. Many genetic studies have shown that Argentina's genetic footprint is primarily, but not overwhelmingly, European. In a genetic study involving 441 Argentines from across the North East, North West, Southern, and Central provinces (especially the urban conglomeration of Buenos Aires) of the country, it was observed that 65% of the Argentine population was of European descent, followed by 31% of indigenous descent, and 4% of African descent " And if you wanna get more specific: "For example, the population in the North West provinces of Argentina (including the province of Salta) were on average of 66% indigenous, 33% European, and 1% of African ancestry." "Similarly, the study also showed that the population in the North Eastern provinces of Argentina (for example, Misiones, Chaco, Corrientes, and Formosa) were on average 43% of indigenous, 54% European, and 3% of African ancestry." "the population of the Southern provinces of Argentina, such as Río Negro and Neuquén, were on average 40% of indigenous, 54% European, and 6% of African ancestry." "Finally, only in areas of massive historical European immigration in Argentina, namely the Central provinces (Buenos Aires and the surrounding urban areas), Argentines were of overwhelmingly European ancestry, with the average person having 17% indigenous, 76% European, and 7% of African ancestry." "(another) study indicated that Argentines were as a whole made up of 38% indogenous, 58.9% of European, and 3.1% of African ancestry" The magic of reading and not thinking the whole country is Buenos Aires City

That means more than half the country is filled with white colonisers. No wonder everyone complains about the racism. Once again, I’m not attacking you. I just find it really hypocritical when white Latinos don’t want to acknowledge their past. We all should learn from the Germans and own up to our ancestors mistakes instead of glossing them over. rinasawachanta 3,484
This reminds me of the infamous post where Argentina was said to be a racist country solely because of the fact that there were no visible Afro-descendants in their national soccer team, versus the case of the French national team, where the presence of black players was interpreted as a gesture of "inclusion" by the French colonizing state hahaha. Sorry, but I'm laughing my ass off. Argentina, like practically all nation states, has racism issues. But it is not a country where hate crimes are constantly committed against its racialized people, as it happens on a daily basis in other countries that are not even on the list (or are in a comfortable sixth place). There is a very complex problem of stupidity that leads the Yankees (or those who have their heads eaten by the empire) to construct a Hollywood argument that establishes a link between Argentina, Nazism and racism (?), when the main racist problem that exists in Argentina derives from complex socio-cultural dynamics that precede even the existence of Nazism as a political movement (and that have to do with the persecution of indigenous communities). Argentina, on the other hand, has one of the highest percentages of Jewish population in the world, and under no circumstances is it a marginalized or discriminated community. At the same time, the human rights policies that the country has pursued over the last twenty years have put it at the forefront of the struggle for equality and inclusion at all levels. 2 minutes ago, Meat said: I’m talking about the Spanish colonisers who came to plunder a country and wipe out entire civilisations. Our population is predominantly "marrón". It is very common to ignore the fact that Argentina has more than 36 indigenous languages in addition to Spanish. Even those people who trace their origin to the "ships coming from Europe" are mostly "mestizos".

No wonder everyone complains about the racism. As I pointed out and you CHOSE (and still choose) to ignore or address, that comes from later immigration in the 20th century. In fact, during colonial times, Europeans were a minority if we're talking about the ethnic composition of society back then. Even in urban centers.
