Jessie J shared a major career announcement and joked that she is now 'unemployed' in a verbal statement shared to Instagram.

'My lawyer said that I need to make a statement about the decision that I have made. I don't want it to feel like a huge, big thing.'
She continued: 'After 17 years I have decided to leave Republic Records. i was about six months pregnant when I made this decision.
'Monte and Avery Lipman, and Jason Flomm have been so gracious and kind in supporting my decision and letting me go. It's been the most amazing high and low ride of my life.
'I just feel so grateful to have been signed to the best record label in the world. I have to just be honest with who I am and what I want from my career now.
'There's no negative spin it's not dramatic. I just didn't feel right being signed and it hasn't for years. So, I need to stop just trusting my instincts and ask for them... so now I am unemployed.
'I am now in the process of doing all the legalities and sorting out the music so I can put out new music and do it my way. On my time and my terms.
'Now I have had a baby there is just no stopping me. Something happens when you have a baby and just start giving zero f**ks. But there is nothing but good vibes.'source

I never understood why she didn't go on to have a huge career. She was so successful in the UK in 2011-2012 with a number of hit singles. Other than Bang Bang she really hasn't had any success since. Strange thing is the music industry.

I love her so much and wish her nothing but success. I'm so glad she is still pursuing music after her Ménière's syndrome diagnosis. Her voice is unmatched and she's going to go far, regardless of the "industry".

She was big in France too... Price tag really worked in many countries I believe. Bang bang did the same...

Bad single choices must be the main reason I guess cause she has the hell of a voice!

i’ve always wondered why too, but i think it’s because she shaved her head 😅

Masterpiece is a masterpiece (ba dum tss) and didn't deserve to flop

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

She really found herself again with that ROSE record. Very raw piece of music. I think going independent is going to be best thing for too.
