LordByron28 861
How would you all feel if her next album was based more on a cosmic/universe/space/alien theme? With BTW she gave birth to a new race. Venus was based on the Michaelangelo painting combining the greek goddess mythology with aliens and space. Chromatica was a planet she created. Taking that storyline and progressing it she could make an entire album out of space/cosmic thematics. The album could feel like a big cosmic odyssey incorporating EDM with space thematics and touch into many different genres and influences from all over the world. There are so many metaphors that could be explored using the space thematic such as comparing herself to a star as a celestial body as well as the Hollywood meaning even the implosion of a star into a black hole that absorbs everything into its dark matter. The moon and how it orbits the earth, beautiful but lonely observing the world from an outsiders perspective seeing from afar. Alien thematics into songs such as sex/love themed or invader. Greek, Roman and Egyptian mythology as well as religious elements. Contemplating the meaning of the universe and life as well as perhaps a contemplative existential crisis. The zodiac and horoscopes in general could be a topic incorporated. Exploring life outside of earth. Music being a universal language as well as love being universal. Comets, meteors, asteroids, the sun, the Milky Way, and different planets all being a wealthy source for different metaphors. Different cosmic and atmospheric events such as Solar/Lunar eclipses, shooting stars, meteor showers, aurora borealis, solar flares, planetary alignment, times of day such as Dusk, Dawn, Twilight, Midnight, Sunrise, Sunset, etc. There are also plenty of pop culture references Stylistically, I could see influences of Baroque(think Florence and the Machine), Art-Pop(the genre), Global EDM(exploring Latin American, K/J-pop, Europop and Afrobeats), Rock, Synth, and Trip-hop to explore the breadth of different topics within a Celestial themed soundtrack. Tracks to listen to that could give rough ideas of topics, sounds and themes that could be explored: Cosmic Love by Florence + The Machine, Earth Invaders by Bjork, Venus as a Boy by Bjork, Satellite by Dave Matthew’s Band, Yellow by Coldplay, Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay, 100 years by Five for Fighting, Drops of Jupiter by Train, Starman by David Bowie, Rocketman by Elton John, Spaceman by The Killers, ET by Katy Perry, Legendary Lovers by Katy Perry, Alien Superstar by Beyoncé, Standing on the Sun by Beyoncé, Starboy by The Weeknd, Spaceship Coupe by Justin Timberlake, and When You Wish Upon A Star off of Pinocchio/Disney. Ivy 11,673
I like your ideas but I don't think she will do it But I especially like these parts 7 hours ago, LordByron28 said: There are so many metaphors that could be explored using the space thematic such as comparing herself to a star as a celestial body as well as the Hollywood meaning even the implosion of a star into a black hole that absorbs everything into its dark matter. Listen, you asked for opinions, and some may differ from yours. save the petty scream queens-style talk for something else, please Anyways, almost all of David Bowie's discography, Coldplay, Muse and space/alien it's a massively recurring trope in a lot of pop imagery. So, given that Gaga explored such themes since the born this way ball, all the way to Chromatica concepts, am I allowed to say that I think it's overdone? Yes. I would have love to see cosmic/celestial mythology themed album from Gaga but I would rather have it with more spiritual and mature lyrics like Ray Of Light. BUT we have to admit that she literally relesed a space themed album few years ago and these days we seen a lot of space/celestial themed albums or singles and music videos (big example PLANET HER) I agree with @TimotheeChalamet about the concepts is overdone and dated. I didn’t mean for it to come across the way that you were interpreting it to mean. I do think those are some valid points but at this day and age; I’d like to ask what tropes haven’t been overdone. It’s not like Gaga’s concept for any of her albums haven’t been done before from a very cursory look. Obviously she explores them, mixes and mashes them into something that is wholly and distinctly her own. However, if someone described TFM as a gothic, euro inspired track about monsters people would’ve complained that it had been done numerous times. Coldplay is a fair point and is probably the closest to what I can think of but not entirely. 36 minutes ago, MrHappy said: I would have love to see cosmic/celestial mythology themed album from Gaga but I would rather have it with more spiritual and mature lyrics like Ray Of Light. I really wouldn’t qualify Chromatica as space themed. The Stupid Love music video was about the only thing space related and then the concept was never touched again. Planet HER is similar in that the music, sound, and subject matter has nothing to do with space outside of an album title. I suppose I’m stating to take the concept that she has built some narrative around in her artistry and building on that narrative and taking it to the next level/continuation stemming all the way back to one of her earliest catchphrases at the beginning of her career of ‘infecting one sequine at a time’. If Chromatica was one planet and her own self in terms of mental health. Then the next album is about the entire universe, life and much bigger encompassing and relatable matters. The concept of us all being ‘one world with music and love being the uniting factor that brings us all together’ but evolving that concept to the universe. I can’t think of too many major songs or albums that play into horoscopes/zodiac signs for example but those are fairly popular in pop culture and the LGBT community in general. I think there are a lot of different mythologies from different cultures that could be subject matters that are different and could present interesting ideas. A track told from a sex alien/space invaders perspective that draws parallels and mega-commentary towards European colonialism as well as including numerous pop culture references possibly a Bad Bunny feature and co-production. I also think there are distinctive ‘space/cosmic/alien’ sound effects, instruments, melodies, etc. that are closely associated with that type of cosmic/celestial vibe that could bring a sense of cohesion to the entire album while being able to explore a wide variety of genres without it becoming too hodgepodge. 6 hours ago, Ivy said: I like your ideas but I don't think she will do it But I especially like these parts And Thank you. I’m envisioning if Florence + The Machine, Bjork, Coldplay, M83, Kate Bush, Sia, David Bowie, and Electric Light Orchestra were all put into a blender with each track being sprinkled with different influences from around the world and other major acts. Space Cowboy 11,670
Born This Way, ARTPOP and Chromatica all had space age themes in different ways, especially BTW. Its kind of on brand with 'Lady Gaga's She's like a space alien goddess witch from the future that loves the 1970s when you think of her lore. Some would call her other things but I'm not acknowledging that! Not today!
Tyler1992 2,152
I always want Gaga to explore the cosmos, they go hand in hand. Lady Gaga is the cosmos as Lana Del Rey is America. The Fame/The Fame Monster is about the superstar, the otherworldly being that captured lightning in a bottle, straight out of nowhere. Born This Way, ARTPOP, Chromatica all explored space themes. I would love Gaga to continue to explore the spiritual cosmos. The stars are something we neglect as a species. We turn inward, and we don’t look up and understand the insignificance, yet brilliance we have here on earth. Chromatica was very much an album that looked into Gagas psyche, using a different world as its vessel. This came after Gaga explored her familial roots with Joanne. I think an eternal Gaga for LG7 would be incredible.
