I'd gladly quote what I'm referring to but the mods deleted the mega-thread because of the arguments you & others were having. But I am glad I found @Okinawa instead,we don't even agree always but it's much better to focus on fully fledged arguments instead of catty attacks and tic and tac. Their first response to me when I pointed why i'd be insensitive to praise this strike when it was part of a barrage of strikes that left dozens of innocent civilians dead, including children celebrating NYE, their VERY FIRST response was that I was "crying for a Nazi museum". With this type of people they already come to the argument with a pre-determined view of you. They've already decided that I'm a nazi sympathizer and bumping this thread would "trigger" me. What I need to work on, is resist the temptation to engage people who I think are going to argue in bad faith. Somehow I never learn.

Thx, I also think conversations with you are reasonable and we don't have bitchfights like 70% of today's generation has. I have a little anecdote to tell: We drank Krimskoye on New Year's Eve. We all thought it was straight from Crimea, after all it's called Krimskoye. Nobody reads the fine print except me @Okinawa. The label said Krimskoye was produced in the Republic of Moldova. I immediately thought of you @FfFfFfFF. I said Moldova is a largely irrelevant country but I must correct myself. Not France. Not Italy. Neither Spain nor Austria. The wine was from Moldova and it was my frist alcohol this year and Moldova has somehow become a part of my life. MOLDOVA SLAYS AND RULES And the sparkling wine was good. Shukhevych was one of the perpetrators of the Galicia-Volhynia massacres of tens of thousands of Polish civilians. It is unclear to what extent Shuchevych was responsible for the massacres of Poles in Volhynia, but he certainly condoned them after some time, and also directed the massacres of Poles in Eastern Galicia.[4][5] Historian Per Anders Rudling has accused the Ukrainian diaspora and Ukrainian academics of "ignoring, glossing over, or outright denying" his role in this and other war crimes. https://twitter.com/EuromaidanPress/status/1741831028929450317 This sounds weird but I've noticed a trend that every time you pop up in these Ukraine/Russia-related threads, you seem to be keen on downplaying or telling a darker side to Ukraine, potentially in a way that makes Russia look more positive for its actions. Are you against Ukraine? Not a loaded question btw, just a curiosity.

Are you against Ukraine? Not a loaded question btw, just a curiosity. I don't support Russia and I believe Russian imperialism is a great danger to Eastern Europe, however, as time went on, I noticed a widespread trend of idealizing Ukraine, minimizing and blocking any attempts to have any conversations about problematic stuff that takes place in Ukraine (the museum and the glamorization of Nazi figures being one example), justfying all of Ukraine's actions even if they affect minorities (ie the 2017 education law which is actually a very poignant talking point where I am from because it infriges on the rights of Romanians living there, all under the pretext that Ukraine is at war and has the greenlight to act however it pleases). When the war started I was absolutely in shock and wanted Ukraine to receive all the help it can (because in February 2022 no country was initially open to send weapons and/or meaningful aid, let alone F16 planes like they do now- which made it seem that Ukraine was going to fall at any moment and Russia was going to streamroll all its territory). So I panicked and wanted to shift the direction of the discourse to be completely pro-Ukraine, because at that point Ukraine needed it to survive (you check out my previous posts, if you have the time). However as time went on, Russia proved to actually be weak militarily and the issues of Ukraine became again apparent, with the difference that now you absolutely cannot bring them to the forefront without getting publically shamed. Because the war is covered so emotionally in the media, an unequal relation emerge in that Ukraine will always be given a pass and realities that happen on the ground will not be heard by people because they are instantly labeled ''Russian propaganda'' and whatnot or they will be instantly excused for varying reasons. I actually don't want to make Russia look more positive because fuc* Russia, but Ukraine has its own issues, that the West can make changes now as now it's time Ukraine will be receptive to change- given its entire existence is dependent on foreign aid. I want, for instance, that the 2017 education law which prevents secondary education in minority language to be reversed, as I myself cannot support a country with such a policy in good faith. But because the public discourse was taken over by pro-Ukraine narratives at all cost which are emotionally entranched, I loekwy now it's beating a dead horse. Even looking at the conversation around this museum, you don't see the question ''Why is a museum dedicated to a Nazi figure up and running?'', it's ''the museum is actually good because Nazis fought Russia'' etc. I also believe Ukraine is being given false hope to increase its morale that it can retake Donbas and Crimea - I know nobody in their sane mind in the world capitals believes that's actually doable, and I cannot stand watching all this destruction and bloodshed for territories that will always remain Russia's and that Ukraine will invariabily need to cede (because despite false hope idealistic people want to believe, this is what is going to happen). Ultimately the public discourse we have going on will age very badly but I know I will retroactively be proved right in what I am saying.
27monster27 15,863
Lord this is a mess between messy people. @Dennis I'm sorry but there is a lot wrong here. While I appreciate that you want to hold Russia accountable, there are still things to criticize Ukraine over, and yes there Nazi leanings (such as with Azov) is one of them. You overtly criticized the left in 2022 (FfFfFfFF is guilty of this as well) so much that the alt-right crowd had some sprouts on this website. @FfFfFfFF While I appreciate how you like to hold the alt-right accountable, please do not act like you didn't bump this to start something. I know what it's like to want to make a major statement for your opinion (and I don't disagree with that), but bumping this thread was 100% you trying to start stuff. @Bronco "Take the L." Grow up.
