Gaga losing her grip with fans?

Doesn't really matter. I don't know if she is losing grip or not. Probably  she  lost some  fans but  gained a few too  (cause I notice people respecting big time as an artist these days)

The thing to me is very simple, it's not the interaction , it's not even the music, it's the admiration, that's what makes me come here daily, regardless of new stuff or not. My admiration for Gaga as a person and an artist didn't change in fact increase with time. That's what makes me buy her music instantly (regardless the genre) and go to a movie theater real faster lol.

If I didn't admire her as person and an artist surely I wouldn't be here I wouldn't waste a minute reading about her or looking for YouTube videos with her live performances.

Probably depends on what people appreciate about Gaga, an where your interest in her resides.

Either way, at the end of the day it really doesn't matter, she is on a different path, it's very noticeable that she became more private with years, it's very noticeable how much she loves doing jazz shows, there's something about it, that lights her up. Plus we all know that acting it's very important to her. The good thing is that she enjoys and loves to make music too, so LG7 will happen sooner or later, it's just a question of time.

I personally feel super fine with her growing and her priorities and also her passions changing. Such is life. We all grew up.
Only disappointment I have is as some others pointed out, the fans being utilized and addressed to only when there is a new product to be sold. So, is it at the end about the artistry we all so religiously uphold when we talk, or is it about the money made out of it?

Then please, PLEASE, someone explain how the f- is Taylor Swift on her way to become a billionaire. Like legit a billionaire WITHOUT a make up line ( like Rihanna). I remember blondie was doing commercials back then during Red. Can’t remember her doing partnerships after Reputation. Meanwhile she’s expected to gross 1B from tour, her tour movie expected to debut with 125+ million dollars. Selling albums like hot bread on CDs, Vinyls.

Bc she constantly puts out content lmao and her music has always sold well. So has Gaga’s but it’s not always been very inter generational or versatile in radio. And then ofc just less albums and content

(I hope this thread doesn't get locked, btw, if there are mods watching. It's a fascinating discussion, I'm enjoying different people's viewpoints, and so far things have stayed civil )

We are watching. We won't lock a thread over a few people, as long as the entire thread doesn't derail.

She probably realized people are horrible and she had to step back a little.

Gaga is honestly fine. Whatever she does next will do just fine. She doesn’t have Taylor Swift’s numbers but neither does anyone else.

Most pop stars approaching 40 *wish* they could obtain the hype and numbers Gaga will automatically receive with her next project.

Being her fan is honestly so boring. I used to get excited whenever I got notified that she posted something new. Now I dont even look at it because its always something she wants to sell. Of course she can do what she wants and she is grown and all that, but at the end of the day her fans are her fans because of the music and performances she used to do.

Gaga used to be my favorite artist but I wish she would release more content. Live album, stripped/piano album, visual album, more concert films, standalone EPs, unreleased? There's so much that COULD be but never will be, I fear.

It’s crazy how many side projects music wise she doesn’t do / avoids despite having shown interest in them in the past. Like I’ll never stop bringing up how back in 2014 she was so excited about jazz and how she wanted to release a new jazz album every year. Flash forward and we can’t even get a live album despite her doing jazz in Vegas for 4 years now, let alone a solo studio jazz album  :cryga: And then the alternative versions of songs she mentions like Shallow pop version and then nothing. Obviously she’s still in love with music, but I just wish she actually shared it with us more often than not.

I mean I think the only real issue at play is that Gaga only really posts or is active now if she’s posting ads or related - OR there is a post that gets made because fans start clamoring and getting frustrated that all they get are makeup ads, brand deals ala Nurtec and Cotton On, and things of the the nature. For someone who built a massive part of their career on her relationship with her fans it does feel a little disingenuous to have such a drastic change that *seemingly* goes against what she always said she hated and made her miserable.

The best comparison I can think of is it feels like your best friend for life got involved in a multi level marketing business and now they only talk to you if they’re trying to sell you essential oils or juice cleanses.

Truthfully, I think if the Chromatica era had just happened without a hitch we’d be having a very different conversation. As it stands though, things just haven’t been the same since Haus Labs launched and those cracks go in and out of being evident.

I agree. It’s incredibly frustrating as a day one fan. I’d say I’m more of a casual fan at this point. I still haven’t seen House of Gucci.

Reject False Icons

Yes of course I agree she is much more distant, I miss pre-2015 days cause you even felt like you had a chance to be noticed by her, and you felt like you were part of a cultural moment.

But she set an example that the closer you are to fans, you are closer to their toxicity and idc at first Little monsters were mostly gay male teens & young adults and female teens and young adults, and sadly as in any fandom the ones who could get closer to her (cause of money, time, promximity, connections) felt like her personal friends the leaders of the fandom and treated others in rude and mean ways, and also Gaga was treated in many misogynistic and dehumanizing ways by her fans, leaving her and many fans dissapointed

But also It gets kinda harder for singers to sell stuff to their fans, mostly teen idols sell the most merchandise, she is not that anymore, also in the 2000's you could get away with selling gimmicks, now not anymore cause of internet, also singers want to avoid controversy of selling fraudulent stuff, now not anymore

I love her music and I will keep buying her music but I recently unfollowed her, I couldn’t take the constant make up postings. Maybe I’ll follow her again when a new album comes out.

Gurl she's doing more and more ads and that's a fact. At least a few years ago she also used to tease us a little bit which, at least for me, really helped me engaging with her. For example, i remember how fun were those weird photoshoots for Enigma and us trying to understand what they meant. She doesn't do this stuff anymore, it's just ad after ad and her instagram keeps getting more boring

But she's always been commercial. Polaroid, Starbucks, Fame perfume, Barneys, etc. This isn't anything really new, and the celebrity world has shifted. Nearly all pop stars are now business owners, and she's just keeping up w the industry standard and collecting her coin where she can. Plus, it's clear she's truly passionate about Haus Labs.

Bringing up Enigma is an interesting point, because the fans were barking at her for "selling out" by doing Vegas way back then. I truly think people are grasping on to a 25 year-old who doesn't exist anymore, and not allowing for growth within themselves and the artist.

It's just a bit ridiculous to me because we're about to get Joker likely w original music. There's nothing to "tease." She's become so huge, powerful and respected that her projects are blockbuster sized news reports. She doesn't need to satisfy anyone with a photoshoot when she's literally collecting Oscars at this point.
