I was so disappointed to hear they wrote those letters, I really respected them until then for the work they supposedly do for victims of human trafficking.

I can understand wanting your friend to have their full character considered in their sentencing, but the facts of the case are really appalling.

I have compassion for them in their position but they really just made the wrong choice, I can’t come to any other conclusion.

Only finding out about this now, this is surreal. They are 2 of the last people I'd expect to be in support of such a person considering the great work they've done with their charity for protecting children from abuse. Once you're involved with something that serious, you have no room for associating with or being an apologist for any abuser, no matter how unbelievable or unjust you deem the allegations against them to be. I find those letters to be woefully naive in the sense that they think Danny could have been nothing other than good based on what they've seen of him. They must know that the majority of abuse happens behind closed doors. Ashton's assertion that Danny has never lied to him in the 25 years they've known each other goes against everything we know to be true of human nature. We all lie at some point, we'll definitely lie, even if it's over something small, at some point in that length of time to people and some lies never get discovered. It seems both of them are very blinded by their friendship with him to the point where they can't look at the situation logically and considering how focused they are on human rights, that's a sad thing to see.

I really hope that this discourages celebrities from sending any more letters of appeal to judges. They must know by now that articles this serious would never be kept private when you're famous. There is no such thing as private correspondence when you're a celebrity these days. Don't say things in private that you wouldn't say in public, basically.
