it would've been better but god those kids were so ****ing awkward

I totally agree. It's cringe-worthy to watch. But if I was in their shoes, I'd be so starstruck I wouldn't know what to do, either!

No doubt, that was probably her most spot on MTN performance of the tour.

3 points in and ready for more

She SLAYED the vocals omg I nearly cried. She always gets to me with her acoustic performances. IMO Tho, she needs to end with that MTN outro

In San Jose she said something along those lines but in a different song, I wanna say it was Sheisse. She says "Tell everyone that Lady Gaga is ****ing back in America" or something like that. I was like HELL TO THE YES!

"My name is Lady Gaga, and I HAVE ARRIVED, MOTHER****ERS!" *Epic lighting + Scheiße breakdown begins* :legend:

excuse me no- gaga fails to sing the "NIGHHHT" at 2:21-2:26.

the only great album version performance is this- 1st night in tokyo. again- EPIC FINAL NOTE!

therefore, i use "marry the night" acoustic only. the "NIGHHTS" are still there!

Well, I have done nothing but shade Gaga and the BTW Ball after seeing MDNA.

I had hated the stage, her entrance by horse, and her artistic direction in general. But, the final straw was when I had heard and saw that she had turned Marry The Night into this Acapella-ish ballad for the NA leg. That was it for me. I had always proclaimed the MTN was the best song of her entire catalog since the album dropped. I was so disappointed at this point that I was going to let my general admission tickets go to waste and spend the day studying.

But, on the morning of the show, during a particularly stressful hour, I made a last minute decision to get out of town. I grabbed my beau, jumped in the truck, and sped off to the BTW Ball in Houston a few nights ago. I'm glad I did.

Concert Review Ahead:

The stage was more colossal than I had ever imagined, and even though the horse entrance remained anti-climatic, the production and stage were enough to distract me so that the opening passed very quickly and she was off and running. And although the stage is elaborate, Gaga does put for considerable more effort to interact with individuals in the crowd which makes the show feel more intimate. The set was more cohesive and flowed more quickly than The Monster Ball. The placement of Born This Way early into the set is just perfect for energizing the crowd and then slaying. I found myself more excited throughout the show and now knowing what to expect next, and I found myself less distracted during what I consider to be "filler" songs. Black Jesus+Amen Fashion is considerably more palatable when preformed live. I finally began to appreciate Americano after hearing it live. The absolute top picks of the set were the high-energy performances Heavy Metal Lover, Alejandro, and Scheiße ...until, Marry The Night.

Overall, Gaga just seemed more connected to the audience, energized, and involved in the set than she did with The Monster Ball. You could see she was clearly feeding off the energy of the crowd. After blowing us away with Scheiße and surprising me with her passionate performance of The Edge of Glory, she let into that slow-version of Marry The Night. I felt so let down, even though I knew that she had been playing it that way during the NA leg all the way up to the previous night's show in Dallas, so I was ready to just cope with it and try to appreciate it.

Then the magic happened. Feeling the vibe the way that she was, and coming off that killer choreography from the kid during Scheiße, she pulled a couple who were said they were actually getting "married".. and that's when she launched into the REAL Marry The Night. The castle opened, and her band was ready. It seemed as if she keeps them on que, waiting in the wings, just in case it's the night she wanted to kill it like that. I really believe this was not a pre-planned but improvisation in the set, as she was off on the choreography, missed some lines. BUT, it was SPECTACULAR. I absolutely lost my ****. My beau said that some people were actually filming me with their cell phones, not Gaga, because I was being such a spectacle. The crowd overall didn't take to the album-cut of Marry The Night like I wanted, but there were a few other North American little-monsters that knew this was special and were losing their very own minds as well. I haven't looked to see if Gaga has continued to sing MTN in the fashion she did in Houston, or if she even went back to the full album-cut now - but the very fact that I decided to say "**** it" and go, and that I was entertained - even stunned at times - and then ultimately appeased by the original cut of Marry The Night - the song that has been the most defining of her entire catalog, at least to me. All of that was enough to me keep from all but throwing away my membership as a little monster.

I had low expectations, but they were shattered. The Born This Way Ball is better than The Monster Ball. The abbreviated songs actually coalesced nicely into one another - however, she would do good to have an epic "breakdown" like Madonna did at the end of her opener Girl Gone Wild during the MDNA tour with an extended Marry The Night, Scheiße, or whatever - next tour. The only real disappointment is the absence of guns. I am 100% in support of enhanced regulation. But, to get rid of the guns is absolute NONSENSE and gives the impression not that she is a trying to be a "good role model" - and certainly not that she is a strong or brave independent, artist or female - but rather that she is becoming fearful and weak-minded of bad press. I know that she has her own set of beliefs and values, but the very fact that she used these props up to and until the "controversy" makes it seem that her artistic priorities are misguided.

Beyond that, I still just can't deal with Hair, Bad Kids, and The Queen - but I will. And I'm finally looking forward to ARTPOP again.
