Were you approve or disapprove of it?

Were you also going crazy over that chord progression like many of us?

And have your opinion on this song changed since its initial release?

Bonus:

Spoiler

I remember when she dropped the teaser and I was PERCHT! Imo, the song did not disappoint. To this day, it’s one of my favorite tracks from Miss Ga. The key change heard around the world!

I remember the countdown, the teasers, the meltdowns lol. So many people were upset, I’d say at least half the fanbase. Definitely her most divisive lead single that I experienced.

It's a holiday here, I was awake at 1am at my grandma's house in my hometown

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

I have mad respect for her for releasing something completely unexpected. While I didn’t love the song at first, i've grown to appreciate it for what it is. Although i still wish it sounded more like the Kevin Parker version. It's such a vibe :music:

I have very mixed feelings about the song.

When I listen to the song on its own I don't like it but when I listen to the whole album then the song sounds like an absolute 10/10 banger

I did not like it on first listen but it grew on me and got me through some terrible times. My near favorite coming second to Replay. I was in school and downloaded it Friday morning before school.

I was in Japan for work and I had that ish on repeat. I remember wishing it was longer at the time. Still an absolute banger, it’s a great song to work out to. The video eats too, I love how she looks possessed in some of the scenes.

This was her first official single since the entire ARTPOP era unfortunately became unravelled.

This song was such a statement about everything and everyone around her. This song isn't only about the men close to her that betrayed her in business and relationships, but also the men in her life that are her "fans."

After/during ARTPOP, a lot of fans left her. Perfect Illusion was such a bold statement to sing about "it wasn't love, it was a perfect illusion" calling out a lot of little monsters for how they treated her during ARTPOP.

Gaga made it very clear the Joanne album was about her entire life and moments from it. PI was apart of that.

Even though PI was a demo, Gaga takes on a whole new meaning to the song and what it's about when applied to her life. Ultimately she is the artist releasing the song, she wouldn't release it if it wasn't personal to her.

Perfect Illusion then went on to create further separation from Gaga and a lot of fans were "returning their stan card" around this time.  A lot of them returned for the Super Bowl and then after the success of ASIB.

I loved it since the first listen. She's a very smart woman. Talented too if you are willing to listen to her story and aren't just in it for the charts.

The melody that you choose can rescue you ♥

I remember when the teaser for PI dropped

We, in the LG5 Anticipation Thread (Joannticipation), were seizing uncontrollably because the drought had been so long and the Twitter "insiders" were throwing out things left and right. Then this popped out of nowhere and we didn't know what to think.

The song was released a while later and tbh I hated it. Her vocals, the unfinished sound, all of it. The video too. After craving PopGa for so long, I hated the Joanne era with a passion.

But I still supported my queen, I grew to love the era and the song. Honestly the visuals and album have aged so well. Timeless
