There are no soundtrack songs in Taylor's setlist is the kicker there though. If Gaga were to include soundtrack songs in her film it could fall under the strike rules

Yes but it's the Chromatica Ball, not a trailer for promoting those movies. I've never heard of this being a violation, I think people are just trying to find an excuse for the silence with what they have lol

Taylor has acting in a couple feature films, is she also SAG? Taylor is releasing her tour in theatres in October . Why can she get away with it but not Gaga?

not arguing just genuinely asking!!!

The concert film is probably not a SAG production.

I think the songs stand alone. They’re not just considered promotion for a film.  She can sing the songs.

It does fall under strike rules. Because the songs were written for a film, they fall under the strike as promotion. If a song is just used in a film but not written for the film then it doesn't.

This is why the film should've long been out I'm telling you.

It looks like Taylor's concert film has no major studio attached, therefore she's not supporting them over her union. The film might be produced independently or through her record label and therefore only the theaters themselves (like AMC) will profit. There's no striking against AMC. She found the only loophole to releasing during a strike. :toofunny:

I don't think Taylor is worried about scabbing + not sure if she's actually SAG?

Also, Taylor is definitely SAG and definitely worried about scabbing seeing as she wants to direct a film and clearly has been trying to break into the film industry with all her small roles. If she has any upcoming roles (I don't know) then they were shot before the strike and if it's released before the strike is over she won't able to promote.

"according to SAG-AFTRA chief negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, who says that artists are expected to avoid promoting music created for film, TV and streaming under the old contract during the strike. They also cannot enter into any new music licensing agreements or approve any new tracks for film or TV projects and must cease promoting songs already licensed"

If that's the case they're exaggerating a bit. How does a performance of Shallow in an alien headpiece feel like movie promotion is beyond me but okay

I don’t think that’s the case. I feel like the main problem is the streaming release. I can bet Gaga’s not releasing her film theatrical like Taylor.
