Carlos Santana tells concert crowd: ‘a woman is a woman and a man is a man’

Carlos Santana declared “a woman is a woman and a man is a man” during a recent concert, drawing ire and praise from music fans.

“When God made you and me — before we came out of the womb, you know who you are and what you are,” Santana told attendees at one of his recent concerts. “Later on, when you grow out of it, you see things, and you start believing that you could be something that sounds good, but you know it ain’t right.”

“Because a woman is a woman and a man is a man. That’s it,” he continued as the crowd cheered. “Whatever you wanna do in the closet, that’s your business. I’m OK with that.”

The “Oye Como Va” singer reportedly made the remarks, which many criticized as anti-transgender, during a concert in Atlantic City in July.

The video was shared on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday and went viral, garnering more than 800,000 views in around two hours.

“Such a legendary artist having to spread this hate for what,” one social media user wrote.

“He’s over … well he actually never started,” a post read.

Still others praised Santana for not giving in to woke culture: “So relieved he didn't fall into the woke crap. Legend.”

“He isn’t wrong,” a user posted in response to the video.

“He is preaching truth and nothing less than that, you know what you are naturally,” another wrote. “So spare me all this identity theft, you all are doing.”

In the video, Santana shared his stance of solidarity with comedian Dave Chapelle, who has also faced criticism over anti-transgender comments in the past.

“Like this with my brother Dave Chappelle,” Santana said, placing one hand in line with the other.

Since making the comments during his concert, Santana told Billboard that he desires to “honor and respect all person’s ideals and beliefs whether they are LGBTQ or not. This is the planet of free will and we have all been given this gift.”

Alice Cooper also recently told Stereogum: “I’m understanding that there are cases of transgender, but I’m afraid that it’s also a fad."

“I find it wrong when you’ve got a six-year-old kid who has no idea," Cooper said. "He just wants to play, and you’re confusing him telling him, ‘Yeah, you’re a boy, but you could be a girl if you want to be.'”

We have tons of people who are fighting our corner and being on the right side of history, it’s natural and obvious there will be opposing ideas and views and it didn’t seem to be said with any real eloquence so meh - each to their own, nobody really cares what he has to say on a large scale - NPC ‘celebrity’ vibes

heterosexuals need to speak up about abuse of women, heterosexual abuse of girls, and high murder rates in heterosexual relationships. This is all a tactic to divert the topic from centuries of heterosexual crimes.

I feel like someone really famous needs to educate people on intersex.. it's clearly not known enough at all. "man is man woman is woman" ok so.. what is intersex? Both? Then f*cking INCLUDE IT. I feel like that will lead to more understanding of trans. Idk lol just a random thought

No doubt this guy is a legend but he’s pretty out of touch. He claimed in his rant it was how God made us. If he’s firm on his religious beliefs, why did he get divorced and remarried? Oddly enough, his current tour is called the “1001 Rainbows.”
