This man raised Gaga in New York in the 80s and 90s, a historic low point in the city's history... and he's complaining about conditions today?

I love her but sometimes her laziness really annoys me. I mean, it’s been a while her name is been used for his platform and she never did anything. She has power enough to stop it, it’s really sad as a fan seeing things like this happening.

Look I hate Joe and what he's doing here as much as the next person, but he and Fox aren't doing anything illegal or actionable on her part. He IS Lady Gaga's Dad, Fox can identify him as such freely. Can she ask them to stop? Sure, but they don't have to, and why would they really? It's not like they have a good relationship with her they want to preserve.

Calling her lazy is off base, she's obviously navigating a delicate family relationship in her own way

what we're not going to do is downplay the insane amount of damage fox news has done to this country, if not the world considering the recent widespread international support around far-right government. she should've stopped him from doing this years ago.

also navigating a delicate family relationship? he's literally using her name as cannon fodder against marginalized people. that delicacy ship sailed ages ago and he made the first move. this man needs to be put in his place. according to her, he'd literally be dead if it wasn't for her and he should fücking act like it.

friend I'm not defending Fox News or Joe, heaven knows.

that I'm responding to. She can't, legally. She can ASK her father, she can ASK Fox, but if the only way they are using her name is to identify her dad as 'Lady Gaga's Dad', they are allowed to do that.

We don't know what she's said to Joe about it. Maybe she HAS said stop or I'm never speaking to you again, who knows? He obviously doesn't care about her feelings.

As a libertarian, I’m pretty much live and let live, and so old now as to realize that continually judging others is much frustration; I prefer a tranquil life. Family gets a pass; blood is thicker than water. In a free society everyone gets to speak their mind. Over the decades, the small stuff is forgotten. Much better to get out and touch some grass, take in some sunshine. To me, trying to “win” on a Gaga fan forum is not worth extended effort, but I do enjoy reading the various viewpoints.

Honestly the impression I get from his last few interviews is that he's used to living an upper class lifestyle in one of the 'nicer' parts of NYC.. but the neighbourhood is changing and he's mad that he has to see the lower class citizens of the city in his posh area

Exactly. Like if he's so worried about this maybe he should focus on the REAL problem of gentrification, something that conservatives (like him) are largely responsible for.

I really hope fans ignore this on twitter. The more they pay attention to this, the bigger a deal it becomes.

FOX news has gone after Gaga several times. Asking them to stop would be pointless—it's their right, unfortunately—and would just make her a target yet again. If anything, I could see them blasting her as trying to infringe on their first amendment rights if she asked them stop. America is unlike most other countries.....the standards for libel and slander and defamation are INCREDIBLY lax....and people can get away with nearly anything due to the first amendment.

I don't always agree with Gaga's team (lol I can be a little manager), but in this case she's screwed and staying silent is probably her best option unless Joe escalates even more. I'm also kind of pissed at the fans going after Gaga for this....like what do they expect her to do? Fox is a multi-billion dollar company with an army of lawyers and what they are doing is perfectly legal. Gaga's demonstrated for over a decade that she has very liberal values that are the opposite of her father. Do they really think she thinks what Joe is doing is okay? It should be obvious to any fans, or even many "normal" people considering she performed at the inagauration, that she disagrees.

She can go and post something on instagram, but a) she shouldn't have to because it's a family matter and it should be obvious she disagrees to her entire fan base and b) getting in a public spat with her father, who has to be pushing 80, is probably not something she wants. Angelina Jolie's father is far worse, and I think she's only addressed it "one" time and that was after he went after her kids.

I mean between her father being on Fox News attacking immigrants to her advertising the only professional footage of chromatica with a rich person’s Advil, idk what to say about 2023’s Gaga?

Can y’all please stop with the “rich person’s Advil” or making it like Nurtec isn’t a legit medication? I know it’s not widely available outside the US, but here you can get it for free right now. It isn’t a pain medication. It is a CGRP medication that actually works with your brain chemistry to treat migraines. If you had chronic migraines and had to take this medication almost every other day you’d realize it’s not just an Advil. Signed someone that takes Nurtec (among other meds) for chronic migraines (which is more than 15 migraines a month, not just oh I have a headache).

And if you want to be upset with Gaga for “selling out” to a pharmaceutical company, then fine. But don’t make it like it’s not a legit medication.

The Youtube comments

"How could a father that seems so based let his daughter become an agent of satan?" :v:

"This man’s daughter is destroying the minds of young people today. It’s very sad. I wonder if he is proud!" :vegas:

The exact opposite of the comments on here  It's truly an echo chamber world

Joe Germanotta is not Lady Gaga's father. He's Stefani Germanotta's father. He should respect that but has chosen not to. Lady Gaga belongs to her. The name Lady Gaga is famous because of her huge talent, work ethic, passion for her art and her kind heart. It's her identity. Her father's right wing media interviews have nothing to do with Lady Gaga the artist, actress, and beautiful human being. To use the name that belongs to her to get attention for himself and his political views should be beneath him as a father. Apparently it isn't. He wants to talk about his anti migrant views. He could simply ask interviewers not to call him Lady Gaga's father when the interview has nothing to do with her. The fact that he's using her in such a cold way just reflects badly on him. I don't know if there's anything that she can do about her father. Everyone knows what Gaga stands for – she has used her voice loudly and clearly throughout her career. Her father can't hurt her except as a hurtful father and I'm sorry for that. It's really not too much to ask for him to stop abusing the name that belongs to her (and a name that we love).

Swear to god lms are arguably the weirdest and worst fanbase in how they attack Gaga (and I don't think people have to like everything Gaga does).

She repeatedly campaigned for Biden, performed at his inauguration, and posted just last month about how Black trans people are making a huge difference. And yet because of an medication ad, some idiots (like the one you are responding to) think she's suddenly a Trumper.
