LG social media promotion

Everytime I log onto Instagram or tiktok I see a clip of Taylor and Beyonce's recent tours. Is this something to do with algorithms or are their teams just that much on top of things? As someone who is not a die hard fan of them, it makes me want to check it out. That's called promotion. I didn't see that with TCB.

Nothing to do with their teams, it’s likely all organic posts from fans. Couple things going on here:

-they’re currently running much larger tours, specifically eras which is pushing on 10x more shows than TCB. Less shows drastically cuts the amount of content available—if Taylor is touring every night multiple times in a city, there are simply more people recording and posting more content

-Beyoncé and Taylor have extremely wide GP-based fan bases. Gaga’s pop shows are very popular and she’s widely known with the GP, but nowhere near the same effect Beyoncé and Taylor have currently. Gaga’s UGC comes from diehard fans usually, whereas Beyoncé and Taylor’s comes from diehard fans and masses of regular folk also recording

-Taylor specifically has an exponentially larger Gen Z fanbase who record every second of every show, again resulting in more content to pick from.

-relatability also plays in here, as Gaga is more for the outcast/alt crowd, whereas Taylor is more literal and relatable to the GP’s life experiences. Beyonce is less relatable in this way, but makes up for it by making more digestible pop hits that a wider audience will lean into than Gaga’s more outlandish and darker works

All of these things combined to be complimented by the fact that both stars are EXTREMELY popular with the GP right now meaning social media algorithms are seeing huge amounts of interaction with their content specifically. Long story short, they’re touring a sh*t ton and everyone loves them

Now that I think about it, it's true that I see much more stuff about Taylor and Beyonce's tour. Apart from TCB opening night, I feel like I've barely seen anyone mention TCB, even on Twitter where I follow tons of Gaga fans

Thanks, that makes sense.

Well everything comes from those tours- literally. Gaga’s tour was the same through the whole duration(not saying it in a bad way),meanwhile Taylor has several outfits, which she changes regularly, basically two new surprise songs for each date, which makes a lot of new content to post about. I mean, Taylor is Taylor right now, she’s everywhere. Fans are constantly looking for surprises and so on from her.

For Beyoncé-it’s kinda the same. New contents are constantly posted because she’s doing a whole fashion show during her tour. New opening outfits for every show( fans and GP are looking to see them),new outfits during different acts, she’s teasing the visuals with her interludes, she’s constantly changing those interludes, putting new arrangements for the songs. Another thing is the "everybody on mute" challenge, which is gaining popularity. So if I can say it like that, with Gaga we had this same tour(we didn’t have new outfits every night, new surprise songs to check and so on) that’s why there wasn’t something to look out for every night. I’ve seen LMs even getting tired of the same replay performance, which was posted non-stop on twitter.
And both Beyoncé’s and Taylor’s tour are way more talked about on the news(which I don’t get it). For Taylor, cities have changed their names in honour of her arrival, making national days for her. Same thing for Beyoncé. News channels are covering those tours way more(from painting walls in LA for Taylor, a whole stadium showing her 1989 Taylor’s Version on their roof, to reporters dressing up as Beyoncé’s iconic bee outfit).

Gaga's fanbase is a lot older, especially in terms of internet fan culture...I'd even argue that we paved the way for digital fan culture but haven't changed with it. I noticed lots of little monsters are against TikTok and find it "cringey" and "for kids" for some reason -- even when Gaga's own TikToks are shared here lots of the fans are like "huh? I don't get it but good for her".

I'm not even a barb or kpop stan but I see the communities they've built on TikTok, from memes and trending sounds. Meanwhile, we just have the gagadaily official page and very niche small fan accounts posting on there.

Clout is internet currency and an easy way to get clout is "relating" to a fanbase. That's why the GP loves posting about Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, BTS, Blackpink, etc because all their fanbases are ready to support them. We don't offer that currency to the TikTok space.

That's true. LG and her fans were ahead of the curve when it came to stuff like this but yeah it seems we haven't adapted and are getting left behind. Bey is older and has an older fanbase too but I think her daughter is very in tune with things today and is probably responsible for a lot of the viral stuff. LG hasn't really pushed any boundaries or anything in a long time or been at the forefront.
