Feminists have also worked to ensure access to contraception, legal abortions, and social integration and to protect women and girls from sexual assault, sexual harassment, and domestic violence. Changes in female dress standards and acceptable physical activities for females have also been part of feminist movements. ppl think that this is how women have always been able to live, but its just not true - and even today, only womens rights are ever at risk of being taken away (abortion). The simplest way I can put it is ‘if men put women in a book and tell them you can only be what’s inside this box because that’s what a woman should be, men are indirectly telling themselves that they now must be everything BUT what’s inside that box because that’s what men shouldn’t be.’ And that is where the lack of emotional intelligence, all the frustrations surrounding fitting a certain ideal, acting, wearing, being a specific ‘thing’, etc come from. And I know that we always look at the past through our 21st century glasses and say ‘well they did it cause they’re evil’ and sure, some things could of happened because of that, but most of them most likely didn’t... it’s just how people understood the world back then, we forget that it was so different than how ours is and all that we are trying to do now is adapt to all the new changes and realiaze that some of the things that worked back then don’t work anymore and what maybe once was well intended in today’s day & age is harmful. And that can be a struggle sometimes. Marina is not wrong, it’s just that most people are very close minded in regards to this conversation and not only that, but they operate out of hatred, not love... that’s why to a lot of people for example, ‘feminism’ today is mocking men & hating on everything they do and are... these people seek some form of revenge not to actually achieve what ‘feminism’ in it’s truest form wants to achieve, which is equality & respect for all.
